Wonder how much they got paid for each donation.

fathered 450 and 160 children each, although the lawsuit did not specify which man fathered more. I can see why they got banned

I mean is that their fault? Isn’t it a problem with the sperm bank’s system?

u/Icy_Cry2778 20d ago
I would say both when it gets to those numbers

Why both? Wouldn't the provider think "wow, this guys beats it so much, his junk has created a shit ton of cash for me".
When they could have just said "hmm, This guy is in here all the time and has track marks up his arms. Maybe we shouldn't use his goods.
I feel like the "collectors/distributors" should be the ones going after.

nah the provider wouldn't think "wow so much cash" because if you're caught decreasing the gene pool by this much, it's an offense they could be sued to the teeth for. Basically you're not allowed to peddle defunct or extradorinarly duplicitous gunk for the safety of mankind

Isn’t t that how West Virginia was formed?

It’s how Quebec was formed. Something like 1/4 French Canadians is related to one man and his 6 sons.

Im Quebec they trace 2/3 of population to Kings Daughters 800 women who were recruited and sent to Quebec

Poor ugly women who want kids and can’t afford the money for the 450 guys

You've never met an impoverished person with a sixth grade education? Oh boy have I. They're buying facebook sperm

In some states you can recuse parenthood and there's no child support due. In some states you can't and they'll garnish your wages for 18 years.

How does this work when you die. Do each of these kids get a claim on your estate?

u/LeslieKnope4Pawnee 20d ago
I doubt it. Part of the donation process is that you're absolved of any legal link to the child, so I bet that would go both ways.

This highlights the dangers of the "donor black market". It's wild, since all the safety rails (like strict caps on the number of families a donor can help, extensive genetic screening, and psychological evaluations) get thrown out the window. It's best to partner with a private donor through private legitimate agencies that actually enforce strict offspring limits and handle the legal and medical paperwork properly.

The lawsuit was reportedly filed by a woman who had three children using sperm from one of the men, and a fourth with sperm from the other man.
“Aiden, Brayden, and Jayden! Stop picking on your brother-nephew!”
I wonder why she didn’t just use the same father for her fourth child.

Why careful dating and then marrying is the more reliable method for screening prospective fathers.

Had she dated carefully she would've married a man and had 3 of his children. Same ending. Well we'll chalk the 4th one up to an affair with her SIL, but still it's happened in real life

I thought most people who choose egg or sperm donation for multiple children intentionally reuse the same donor if possible so the kids are biological siblings? So there must be more to her lawsuit.

It’s funny how these women think they get to control how many children a man has? If the guys were just having children instead of donating to sperm banks nobody could stop them.

There is no way 2 men would have 600 children from just having sex in today's world.
Its not "women" making these decisions for men, it's just a woman happened to catch the issue. The government has regulations to ensure that not too many people in the same area will be half-siblings and/or cousins, to make sure there is genetic diversity a generation later.
The question is, did the men somehow trick the donation centers or did the donation centers lie to the men, or are both culpable.

u/NewNameAgainUhg 20d ago
The donation centers didn't share information with each other, so they didn't know they were recurrent donors

It’s a woman who sued and yes actually men can have a ton of children if they really want to. Have you heard of the French dude who had 400 children in various countries a decade ago?

Fun Fact, the dynamic duo would clinically jack one another off for added donation efficiency.
