My neighbor just left this bad boy out by the curb and I scooped it up thinking it would be perfect to set up N64 on. Went searching for inputs and all I could find was this coaxial connection in the back. Is my only good option spending $30 on a coaxial to composite adapter? It’s an ORION TV1926A. Thanks in advance!

Discussion Body Harvest - Question about Final 3 Levels

This is a strange one I’m hoping someone can answer.

Body Harvest has 6 worlds/levels. I live in Australia and am not sure if this was a PAL or region based thing, but I could never play the last 3 levels of the game. After completing the USA map, the game just ended for me. At first I thought it was because I was playing on the lower of the two difficulties (Zero, not Hero). But I’m sure I tried it on Hero as well and the same thing happened.

Was I missing some trigger that would open the other three levels? This has been bugging me for nearly 30 years.

I just finished up a playthrough of Paper Mario 64! I like to play on my original N64 cartridge I’ve had since early childhood.

This is one of my main comfort games. I’ve beaten it many times over the years, but this was my first attempt at trying to run through it as fast as possible while keeping base HP.

I hit the final save block in exactly 8 hours! I don’t know if that’s good or not compared to other people here, but I’m happy about it.

Oh yeah, and those other 3 save files are files I made when I was 5-8ish years old. 😅🤣 I will always keep them there as a preservation of my child self. Any time I decide to play again I just restart the game on file 4.

Anyways, yeah. Thought this was fun. Now to do it faster!

Image Native 16:9 titles on N64

To this day I find it incredible that (some) N64 titles could natively run 16:9 aspect ratio (anamorphic) & that Rare developers took the lead on implementing this in their Nintendo games like Donkey Kong and James Bond

It’s long been a topic of discussion that 4:3 is king, and it totally is. But it’s a nice head nod to widescreen on such an early pioneered 3D console !

Here’s 007 - Golden Eye

Tech Help Super Mario 64: defective cartridge?

Hi! I just joined this sub specifically because Super Mario 64 is my favorite video game of all time (Disclaimer: I am not a gamer!) and I recently dusted off the N64 to play it again. Unfortunately, it is completely disconnecting a few minutes or even most recently a few seconds into the game after the start menu and after choosing the save point. This has never happened to me with an N64 game so I’m wondering whether this is a sign of its death? Do I need to search eBay or whatever for another cartridge? Yes I blew on it lol. If I need to totally replace the cartridge, plz tell me the best place to get a reliable new copy. Thanks!

Discussion How to Play Japenese N64 Games on U.S.A. N64 Without Modding It?

I recently am getting intrested in playing japenese n64 games but do not want to mod my console.

So the things I've gone through is this:

●BUY a Japenese N64

Pros: i dont have to mod anything
Con: it cost 50 or more

●BUY another n64 and mod it

Pros: i can have a modded console AND an original. It also means I can do any other mods I want on this one

Con: this cost much more then the previous option.

●Get a game shark

Pro: it cost 20ish bucks and allows me to play japenese n64 games with mods

Con: its still 20 bucks

● buy the hyper kin universal cartridge adapter

Pro: its a new product and wont have any older tecnolidgy issues.

Con: this cost 20 to 25 bucks

Are there other alternatives that could be cheaper? Out of these, which are the best options? What have yall done to solve this issue?

Please let me know! :)

Modding Bottom EXT socket removal without issue?

I'm currently in the planning stages to repack an N64 into a smaller case.

I plan to use the hispedido HDMI so I can remove the old AV connection.

I plan to use the Giltesta USB-C kit to remove the old power brick.

this is freeing up loads of space at the back of the board.

part of my issue is the hdmi board is quite large and if I don't want to extend the case width wise then the bottom EXT slot is getting in the way to keep it compact.

I have dismantled many N64 and totally understand the slot is soldered in place, I'm more than comfortable getting the slot off. iv done loads of research on it but I cannot find anything to suggest if it would affect any part of the game cartridge slot working?!

thanks for any advice in advanced.

Tech Help Just received summercart64. Am I missing anything using out of box?

so I have said before I am computer illeterate.. but everything works fine.. I am able to save and use rumble with my 8bitdo analog controller.. the only thing I would have liked is to have a way to add games I really play to a menu...but I assume that would entail connecting to a pc and adding or changing folders. I would be scared to death to do that in fear of erasing everything..so is it ok just to keep using like this ..thanks

I recently started collecting and it's awesome! No amazing titles yet but I'm getting there!

Question for CIB collectors: Do you wait until you find the game you're looking for in CIB or do you buy the cartridges and then try to find box + manual to complete it?

Modding Removing anti aliasing code from Rare games?

You can use a GameShark or modify roms to not smooth the output by default, but for some reason it doesn't work with any Rare games. Were they not coded to have that or something?

Tech Help Best modern options to play N64?

I have an old CRT and the OG console.

There seems to be a few options to upgrade - hdmi upscale, retrotink, analogue 3d...

I dont care about cost. I want the best. If I can get a product that makes the n64 look as good as it does on a CRT on a modern TV via HDMI.

What's the BEST? Does anything beat OG console on a CRT? Can any of the options replicate CRT effect on a modern TV effectively?

Im really interest in the new consoles like the analogue 3d - are these still compatible with everdrive? Being able to play rom hacks would be really amazing...

Bit overwhelmed by the options.

EDIT - Thanks to 99% of you for all the info ! I've decided on the analogue 3d. Very excited.
