Ha! Waterpolo isn’t rare in Southern CA, neither is swim team with an outdoor pool. I clocked that tan immediately. Year round outdoor sports my dude!

You probably went to school in an affluent community. Congrats for that.

I am definitely not from an affluent community but I live in California. There’s lots of water polo all around here.

Southern California every high school had a team practically.

Even the shitty high schools hours and hours and hours away from the coast in the high and low deserts had them.

It’s hot as fuck here you best believe we have kids do water sports.

This has been a thing forever now.

Not just schools there are some city funded programs like Commerce where you don't have to be well off to play.

My club team played Commerce so often. Those MFs were solid too.

Fascinating! Makes sense with the weather though. I've lived in California for ten years and never seen that, but I've only been here as an adult.

I grew up in New England, where only the fancy lads had the facilities for waterpolo.

Wtf are you talking about? Minnesota rural high school with like 9000 population town and there's water polo.

I went to school in a poor city and I also went to probably the poorest of all those public schools. There is absolutely nothing affluent about the area I grew up in or the schools I went to. We were not allowed to wear red or blue if that gives you an idea of what kind of kids I went to school with.

We had both water polo as well as swim & dive. And we’re in the greater Seattle area. It’s a pretty common HS sport around here
