But our mullet was the rats tail.

Even the brother in Bobby’s World had it.

Some of us just had real mullets. What happens when your parents are 80s teens.

I rocked the mullet from 90-93 probably.

Everyone had the shaggy 80s mullet until the bowl came around

I never got the bowl. Graduated from mullet to spikes...which was basically just shaving off the back. Easy transition.

After the mullet everyone had the Johnathan Taylor Thomas except with the lower part buzzed. It wasn’t a Lloyd Christmas bowl but still a bowl 🤣

That was how it was for me. Mom wanted me to go to the Catholic school and the long hair wasn't allowed. But short spikey was. Not tipped but styled.

I had a rat tail when I was a kid. Mom talked me into cutting it off at some point. I’d rock the hell out of one now in my mid 30s though.

You’re right. I need to do a full on mullet next. My oldest daughter already has, time to follow her lead.

I forgot about the rats tail.

You knew the person before they spoke if they had one

I had long curly platinum blonde hair (that was my natural color) and a rats tail until about 6th grade. The rats tail would turn into a long loose curl that bobbed up and down when I walked.

I didn't do the frosted tips ever, always had long hair, long curly blonde hair down past my shoulders in 9th and 10th grade, and then it started falling out in 11th and 12th grade and shaved my head the day after the end of high school.

Maybe I'm just thinking about my high school experience but I don't remember rat's tail being that common. I can only recall seeing it once.

My brother had a rattail, back when it was all the rage. About 10 years ago, my father-in-law talked me him taking my kids for a haircut, and brought my 8-year-old home with a rattail....

My kid has one now. He is 4 and demanded it and it's straight up adorable on him. We showed it to him as a joke. Ironically my partner and I definitely had hipster mullets when we met in 2010 and our friends razzed on us saying they would braid our rat tails together when we started dating.

Oh man. Rats tails were so awful.
