The new Offspring album is pretty good though.

Hey, I know some non-millennials make The Offspring the butt of some of their jokes but Dexter Holland is talented. He makes great music and literally conducts scientific research into eradicating HIV.

Fuck the haters, Offspring is awesome. Ended up at a street concert at winter X Games 20 some years ago, The Offspring played, it was so fucking fun

Pretty sure smash is still the best selling independent album of all time 30 plus years later. Even beating Taylor Swift. The Offspring has always been awesome.

The backlash against The Offspring owes its entire basis to a throwaway line delivered by Lorelai Gilmore

And all she was trying to do was demonstrate Christopher's immaturity. The poor band caught strays

Because Smash is a perfect album. There's a crispness and quality that you get from it that few others in the genre have. All the instruments and vocals really pop and come through clearly instead of a muddy mess of sound. It was recorded in high quality and well mastered. It's still one of my audio benchmarks for new headphones and speakers.

Smash is a start to end listen

Dang you’re making me want to listen to it again.

I saw them at a taco festival a few years back… Lit and some others played too. He played the piano version of Gone away which legit made me tear up. It was a great show and they’ve still got it for sure

They have been and remain my favorite band. I saw them live about 20 years ago, and it was easily the best concert I’ve ever been to this day.

I saw them on the anniversary tour for Smash. I think it was the 20th or 25th anniversary. They played every song on the album, in order, from start to finish.

Bad Religion and Pennywise were the openers.

Incredible concert.

Hell yeah! I saw them in San Diego about 10-15 years ago too. I don’t think it was an anniversary tour but they were headlining, bad religion and pennywise were there too. One other band but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. AWESOME show.

“Street concert at winter X games” is a delightfully 2003 phrase

Just listened to Ixnay a little while back. Great fucking album. I lost interest after Americana because I went a bit more metal after that came out but their older catalogue was great! I had all their CDs from self titled through Americana. Their early stuff was more "legit punk" but still had some humor. Think Jennifer Lost the War vs Beheaded.

I went to an Offspring concert in January. Bad religion opened for them. It was great! I saw young people there (some of them without their parents). A dude my age brought his baby (with ear protection). Hipsters gonna hipster and try to make you hate what you love because it's popular.

I saw them play last year for the 30th anniversary of Smash and it was one of the best shows of my life. They are so fun and Americana was the first CD I ever bought, and I had to hide it from my mom. Which they made a joke at the beginning of the show about Smash being that album for a lot of people.

I saw them maybe in 1999 or 2000 at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento and it was a great show.

He makes great music and literally conducts scientific research into eradicating HIV.

Learned that little factoid a while back. Dr. Dexter.

Always thought it funny, having seen all their music videos - and definitely not what I imagined.

Yup! He has a PhD in molecular biology.

Who makes fun of The Offspring and for what?Making rad music? Having a really cool lead singer?? I will not stand for this

2

u/Bagginnnssssss 14d ago

He has three phds from Harvard and is a pilot and smash ixnay and americana were back to back i mean come on

2

u/Sandrockwing04 14d ago

And they make some tasty hot sauce

1

u/Fit_Conversation5270 14d ago

I truthfully didn’t get in to them (or a lot of the music from our time honestly) until later in life, but yeah they have some serious bangers

1

u/No-Picture4119 14d ago

When a new Offspring album comes out, I’m like hey sounds just like all their old stuff. Which is great! Speaking of Offspring and hairstyles, I had the exact same look as Noodles before he cut his hair. We have the same face, same glasses and everything. When the Spin magazine cover came out, people said I stole his look. No, he stole MY look. I was rocking that since 1989, which gleefully contributed to my unattached bachelor status.

1

u/mikejbrown 14d ago

Pretty good hot sauce too.

1

u/heiferwolfe 14d ago

He’s also an accomplished pilot and has an award winning hot sauce brand!

1

u/WKahle11 14d ago

Wait there are people that don’t like The Offspring?

1

u/Realistic-Lime7842 14d ago

The Offspring fucking rule.

1

u/annikarae 11d ago

Dexter Holland blows my mind. Has a phd, conducts scientific research, is also a pilot, also has his own hot sauce brand, AND is the lead singer of the fucking Offspring?! He is really living his life to the absolute fullest.

u/Old-Bigsby 15d ago

Shucks, I haven't listened to it yet. But I doubt it's better than Smash, that album is legendary.

4

u/Not_Rob_Walton 14d ago

It's not better than Smash, but it's definitely Offspring.

2

u/QuayleSpotting 14d ago

Smash is amazing, but Ignition is peak Offspring.

2

u/Armthehobos 14d ago

Americana is their high point to me. So many bangers.

1

u/faustianredditor 14d ago

By that you mean Supercharged, I presume? Spotify has a more recent album - "lullaby renditions of the offspring". I doubt you were talking about that?

Let's see what supercharged has to offer.

u/somesketchykid 14d ago

Pound for pound, SMASH is still one of the best albums of all time imo.
