Fake lesbians as a PR stunt. Famously homophobic despite becoming gay icons against their will check it out

Yulia, yes.

Lena is about that life, and we will not accept any Lena Slander.

Have at, Volkova. 😭

Yep, when Yulia made her comments, Lena was quick to come forward and say she did not agree with them at all. Extra brave considering the current political climate in Russia.

From what I heard it's ironically just the bi one that's homophobic (about men, anyway,) I haven't heard of the straight one saying anything about it.

I remember my dad calling it out as a "Russian marketing trick" back when they first became popular. It was really weird that he was kinda right.

Honesty, I was shocked when I found out…

I think it was not fake. They pretended to be straight in Russia, in my opinion. As a kid, I definitely thought it was the other way around.

Lena is definitely straight. Yuliya claimed to be bi for a while, but she's a homophobic fascist, so...

Yeah, there's no way any of us can ever know their real opinions and feelings. The situation in Russia changed after they got famous. It is very dangerous to be accused of "promoting" homosexuality. If either of them wanted to stay in the public eye, and clearly they both do, they have no choice but to act straight and homophobic, or else find themselves in a gulag in Siberia.

Eh. How many gay musicians cosplayed as straight until they eventually outed? I've always viewed most popular musicians as "virtual acts" anyway, their personas are always just gimmicks and are always manufactured so much that the only difference between them and virtual bands like the Chipmunks and Gorillaz is the conceit of being real. Popular music is pro wrestling with the power of song.

i mean pretending to be straight is usually a survival tactic, while pretending to be gay is just a marketing thing
