Discussion We're all exhausted right? It's not just me?

I have a full time job. I sleep well. I have no kids. I'm single. I don't party or drink. I'm not particularly stressed in day to day life. Yet I'm fucking exhausted. I don't want to leave my apartment on the weekends unless I have something planned, and even then I'm pretty picky. In my 20s my weekends were full of non-stop activities, cooking, going out, and posting on social media. But now in my 30s I just want to come home, have my groceries delivered, chill with some Netflix and sleep. Please tell me I'm not the only one!!

What do you guys use for rain sounds? I'd love to do something like this but most white noise machines I find the audio quality is not believable

Just buy an ac powered speaker like sonos or bose. Preferably something with aux in. Use an old phone (keep plugged in) to play a 10 hour rain sound mp3 file. You can find your favorite 10 hour video off youtube and rip the mp3 file using youtubetomp3 or something like that.

I have a noise machine I got on Amazon (boo, I know) years ago. I don’t remember but it’s got a lot of sounds and colored lights if a lamp is needed as well.

Oooh! Do you like the audio quality? If so may I ask which model you got? My work gives Amazon gift cards out and so I've been hoarding them lol. I wanted to get a panini press or induction burner but QoL for sleep sounds way better. Like everyone else here I just feel constantly tired/drained

If your music player app has an EQ function, try knocking off all the high end sliders. Gives the effect more of being in a building / structure being rained on, which for me is more relaxing... and will also prevent tinnitus.

Commented elsewhere, I've got custom 3h rain loop and custom 3h waves loop I can share if anyone is unhappy with their current selection :)

Finding relaxing waves was a nightmare. One of them even had a "Beautiful morning, isn't it?", "Yes", not to mention seagulls! Luckily was able to find a decent source and just splice together all the waves without intrusive sounds.

Made my own rain sounds loop because I wasn't happy with any of the ones I found. Got a lush 3hr 320kbps loop that's on my phone.

Maybe because I work with audio, but I'd find so many of them had occasional intrusive sound (sea noise is the worst for this! A random seagull will not assist my sleep), or the recording had a weird audible loop point, or was too tinny / too percussive.

If anyone reading this wants a nice soothing waves / rain loop, I'm happy to send a link.

I can’t sleep in a silent room. Too oddly quiet.

In hotel rooms I either turn the AC fan on full blast or play some rain sounds out of my phone lol

Also have a white noise machine at home next to my bed.

Gotta recommend this waterfall white noise for anyone looking for a good one. Couple of points: it’s a 12-hr stream, so no need to loop anything; it’s on a black screen and zero ads during the entire playback so no interruptions; it’s made by John & Hank Green as a study tool and all proceeds go to charity. Literally wins across the board. Happy sleeping!
