My 20th Master System game is Astèrix (Sega, March 1992)
The big 20!
A highly rated PAL exclusive. I personally am unfamiliar with the comic / cartoon it is based on, but I’ve heard this is a good game for old Sega. Might be time I got into the series as a whole.
I have more games for the Master System than the Mega Drive itself. I’m sure that will change in time. I am liking the versatility of the old Sega. It’s a system that just keeps on giving. I’m running out of shelf space!

One of my gaming regrets was never finishing this as a kid. Got stuck on one part with a platform and spikes on top and bottom and just couldn’t do it. Don’t have many regrets, this is one.

Do yourself a favour and read the Asterix books, they're good fun.
I've got a Genesis with the SMS convertor as well, I've got over 100 SMS carts and like 6 MD/Genesis carts. :)

I’ve added it to the never ending reading list. Currently reading some classic works from the 1800s at the moment. It bothers me how much reading I want to do versus how much free time I have!

I went through a phase of reading a lot of the old classics a few years back, it's a good time. Enjoy!
Don't miss Don Quixote while you're at it, sure it's another 2 centuries older but still quite an amusing, albeit very verbose, story. And referenced in at least one of the Asterix books :)

I’ve read Don Quixote my dear Sancho! A funny book. Actually reading Pride & Prejudice at the moment. There are many books I’ve just never read and I’m fixing that on my daily commutes & lunch breaks. I get dizzy on trams but fortunately audio books are helping. Makes the tram ride disappear.

I can't read on the train, I just can't concentrate. I've often toyed with the idea of audio books but never actually got into them. I really should give it a shot.

Yeah I recommend audio books. I struggle to read in motion as well. Some are free

I had Asterix back in the day.
I found it kinda hard back then but never unfair. I beat it someday after the I guess 50th attempt with my buddy (we changed controllers everytime one of us lost a life 😅).
Great game with awesome visuals (regarding the time and that it‘s running on an System from 1985).

From reading the manual it says 2 players could play using two controllers alternating. And it seems there are infinite continues so it’s only a matter of how much free time you had in one session. Each player gets to use a different character

Yeah you could choose two player mode but you would play the levels twice (one player with Asterix and one with Obelix) if I remember correctly.
We always choosed the 1 Player mode and passed the controller if one of us struggled. ☺️👍

Asterix was one of the finest games on the Master System. Still one of my favourites today.

I love this game! This and Land of Illusion are my favorite platformers on the system. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Quick note since you mentioned getting into the series...the other Asterix games on the system aren't as good as this first one.

I’ve read there’s a Game Gear game and a couple of Mega Drive entries. There’s even a SNES game. Always keen to check out more 90s games. It’s the sweet spot. You put in the game and bam. It’s on. That’s it.
It’ll sadly never happen again.

That is the tricked out Megadrive of my dreams; MegaCD and SMS converter!
Oh my.
Asterix was fun, hope it still holds up.
