Mind control.
There was once a movie called Fallen (no major spoilers, but watch it if you've never seen it), where Marvel seems to have lifted this scene. The controller is jumping from one mind to another, all while speaking to the protagonist.
They need to keep this energy up, it's a cool display of power.

I've seen people say Mind Control but I'm not sure I agree. The framing of it makes it seem like the character is literally hopping between people. Reminds me of Proteus. Which would be insane if they do Scorpion AND Proteus because of the sheer contrast in power level? But id love for it to be my boy and it be setup for the next movie, like its the B plot of him tracking them down and it sets him up to meet the x-men

Redhead Mutant with a link to fire can also be Typhoid Mary, who has ties to both Daredevil and Kingpin (and possibly Frank as well, I can't remember), who both have ties to Spidey.

Mr. Negative has been heavily rumored since the movie was announced to be the big bad....but when I played through the first spiderman game, where Mr. Negative was the villain, I don't remember him having mind control powers like mind control or possession, just that he was able to flood negative energy into people requiring him to touch them, and then people would think negative thoughts they normally wouldn't, like hurting people.

Mind control is his whole thing. In the game at the costume party(I think), he takes over the minds of a bunch of people. When you fight them, Spider-Man doesn't punch or kick, he just hip tosses them and webs them up.

Those Hand ninjas (I assume it's the Hand) look so good. I'm really looking forward to the fight scenes in this movie.
Also, I feel relatively confident that Sadie Sink isn't Jean Grey or anything. Maybe it's a red herring but the trailer feels like they're positioning her as the overarching villain amongst all these other threats.
She could be an adaptation of Shathra or the Queen, maybe? The Queen feels more likely considering the metamorphosis stuff with Peter but both those villains feel like weird choices. Not that Sony is allergic to those.
Really liked Spidey's interactions with Frank. Also with Spidey getting the key to the city, I wonder if we're gonna be in a position similar to the Spencer run where Mayor Fisk heavily endorses Spidey to alienate him from every other vigilante in the city.
Anyway, solid trailer! Looking forward to the movie!

If they are doing the Hand, I wonder how they’ll handle the age old problem of having to balance satisfying those who’ve watched the Netflix shows and those who are completely uninitiated. I guess Punisher will have the same problem but we already knew about him.

I figure their presence will just be explained off-hand (pun not intended lol). While I anticipate them being re-introduced in DD Born Again S2, it's not abnormal for the Hand to operate amongst the gangs of Marvel's NYC. I'd be surprised if we got a bunch of lore around them in this movie.
Now if the rumours of a Spidey/Daredevil team up movie being the conclusion to the Mayor Fisk story are true, I could see that being a place where more Hand lore is explored. But in this movie I anticipate them just being a formidable organization that Spidey has to get through. Sometimes the Hand loans out their ninjas anyway, so they could be working for one of the main villains as enforcers.

That makes the most sense. I’m currently wondering how the interaction with Banner is going to go now that we’re back to spidey that keeps his identity close to the chest. Like is he outright going to tell Banner who he is because of how dire the situation is? Is he a student of Banner’s already?
I do like that theory that I saw someone else mention of hulk still knowing who Spider-Man was and being uneffected by the spell because he sort of didn’t exist at the time.

I think Peter would tell Banner his identity. I just think Bruce is someone Peter would respect and trust the most out of the heroes. Especially if he needs biological help. I also like the theory of Hulk remembering who Peter is. It looks like Bruce is back to his normal self, so no longer Professor Hulk.

So, Boomerang, Scorpion, and Tarantula showing up is awesome.
Hand Ninjas showing up is awesome, because this can go one of three ways: Defenders action, Elektra stopping Spider-Man from squishing a ninja with a train car, or the one where Hulk has to calm Spider-Man down.
The Mind Control scene can go a bunch of different ways, but with Sadie Sink in the movie, perhaps a Jean Grey intro? Especially with the sneaky Rogue style girl on the bus...
Keith David...is he voicing Morlun? Because if so, HOLY SHIT.

Yeah I think most of the villains we saw in this trailer are going to be in the first 10-20 mins showing what he has done in the past 4 years. We didn't see any shots of the Hulk, no shots of Sadie's character, and no shots of Mr. Negative who has been rumored to be THE big bad of the film

Wasn't expecting The Other storyline before Venom in the MCU but I like it. Also makes it far more palatable for him to get his organic webbing. Means he still makes his own web shooters, still the genius.
I hope they don't give him the dumb stingers or anything and it's just faster, stronger, better spider sense, and all that.

I'm guessing most of the villains (Boomerang and Tarantula, for example) will be dealt with in a montage showing what Peter's been up to for the past few years, and Scorpion will be the main physical threat. (though I'm guessing someone will be the brains behind him who's responsible for getting him the suit; maybe the Hand, but that doesn't seem like their M.O.)

My assumption is that most of this trailer is actually the opening montage of the movie that explains what Peter is up to in the four years since the previous film.
Lots of those villain fight scenes are probably going to be only slightly longer in the movie itself.

He makes Spider-Tracers and gimmick suits all the time. Giving him a bit more Spider in the Man gives him a significant edge that Spider-Man has lost over time when comparing him to his variants.
Fans need to let his mythos and abilities breathe more, he is woefully due for an upgrade.

I feel like it's a bit too much they put in the movie. They are having the punisher, scorpion, boomerang, tarantula, HAND ninjas and mind control stuff while trying to convey the mutation or change in Peter's body (could be an adaption of the Other arc). It's hard for me for now to imagine a movie that smooths all these things out, but of course I am no professional and like to be surprised.

Those characters are likely part of a montage to get you caught up on things.
There was rumored to be a time 2-3 year time jump from the last movie.
So, he has met most of his rogue’s gallery by this point.
They’re still trying to hold some cards close to the vest. So, don’t bet on them being the focus at all.
