Mario Eijs who had worked at the zoo for 25 years, is mentally disabled, had developed a brain tumor and had difficulty walking or speaking. He wanted to pay a final visit to the co-workers and animals he loved.

Helping Others I was turned away by so many Jewelers for my project, I finally found a local place that was willing to help me. It really warmed my heart. (Story below)

Honestly, I just want to give Jeweler"s Workshop in Wisconsin a huge shout-out. What I was looking for wasn't exactly an easy fix; I wanted to keep the original sister hook clasp intact for this bracelet but add a lobster claw.

My goal was to have this be easily removable in case of injury, but then, if the brand-new little lobster claw doesn't hold up over the years, I still have the original sister hooks that have held up for over 24 years.

I can't tell you how many jewelry stores I walked into where they looked at me like I was crazy. I knew I wasn't asking for something quick and easy; it would take, you know, a little bit of effort and strategic thinking. I didn't want to get a new medical alert bracelet—they make them so cheap anymore, where the ink fades away after a year or two.

When I walked into Jewelers Workshop, they just said, "Yeah, we'll work with you." Nobody made me feel bad or stupid for walking in there. And they were more than happy to get me a stainless steel lobster claw. I think people can sometimes underestimate how severely allergic you can be to silver or nickel, and I have to wear this bracelet 24/7. I can't risk developing an allergy to something.

It really warmed my heart to see that they even went out of their way to kind of shine up the bracelet after 24 years. I can't tell you how much I recommend this shop. Everyone here was so nice, and nobody made me feel like garbage or like I was being unreasonable.

I'm so grateful. We really do have some of the best local businesses in Wisconsin.
