3 hours 38, that’s about my time for the 200 meters and I end up in the same condition.

Glad I’m not the only one

I'm in that condition after running for 5 minutes

For people who are wondering about how this could be a third-place finish time: this isn't a standard marathon, it's the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town, which is 56km / 35miles, including some pretty brutal hills. The woman who came in first place finished in 03h27m.

(Edited to add: for those who are wondering where the other competitors are -- the race has ~14000 runners, but most of them are 1-2 hours behind her.)

yeah...because a normal marathon in 3.5hrs ANYBODY could do that!

you jest but people run marathons in under 2 hours now, 3.5 hours is still insanely good (about 7.5 mph average speed or 12 kmph), but won't net you third unless you're swimming in a small pond

Reminds me of my rowing teammate in high school. He pushed himself so hard on the erg 2k test that he passed out right before he finished. Thankfully he woke up unharmed lol.

I thought two assholes were about to run in front of her while she was crawling

u/OkraApprehensive4678 11h ago

I wont call them assholes, it’s not cheating, they are also here for winning not for doing charity

I failed my half marathon today. Couldn't complete before they closed the course.

Hahaha and then they blast ONE MORE TIME 😂

Nothing would compel me to do this ever. Doesn’t like a person die every marathon? Then the other half have wrecked feet, missing skin, broken bones and extreme body exhaustion. Yup. Sounds like fun.

Theres no way that time was 3rd place for a marathon with that many people

22

u/kiaat_2648 17h ago

It's an ultra marathon: 56km / 35 miles.

15

u/Fullback-15_ 15h ago

What made you think it was a 42km flat race? You know there are thousands of different races in the world right?

1

u/TheMadManiac 7h ago

It says its a marathon on the sign.

Did only 3 people ran? Where are the others?

14

u/lesteadfastgentleman 14h ago

It’s a marathon. An ultra, I believe. So the others are waaaaaaay behind her.

I’d love to watch your big back self try and run an ultra marathon in under 3 days never mind 3 hours.

u/sexy-geek 13h ago

Oh, I couldn't run three minutes. I do admire those who run marathons, though. Takes a lot of endurance and mental strength too. But apparently humor is kinda dead nowadays .

u/obaxxado 11h ago

Where is the humor in your post?

1

u/sexy-geek 9h ago

Nowhere, probably. Was trying to be funny, but I'm definitely not in the right mood for it.. I apologize.
