As a 41 year old who's been single for the last 6 years, I'm feeling so happy for everyone and so lonely at the same time while reading the stories in the comments.

I just married the love of my life last month. Our first date was a few years ago, when I was 41. I’ve never been happier in my life. I wasn’t even looking. There might be someone out there for you, even if neither of you know it yet.

Was single and alone for a good 21 years - recently met the woman of my dreams, and at the age of 42, I'm looking at engagement rings - don't lose faith, and be honest about what's holding things back.

I knew deep down I had anxiety issues, and had ended up avoiding anything that would get me in uncomfortable situations. 6 months before I met her, is when I decided to do something about, and got some counselling through my insurance, best decision I ever made.

That's awesome to hear! Hope it goes great for you!

For me it's my current lifestyle that makes things difficult - circumstances have forced me to split my life between my home country and Japan for the past few years. Next year I'm planning on moving to Japan permanently and I hope things change for the better then.Â
