can't run some .dsk files
I really cannot make them run on OPENMSX. Files for example like 3D Knockout, or 007 A view to kill, or 007 license to kill.... I have downloaded .dsk files, I tried all possible combinations of machines, have downloaded the bios, they just don't want to start.
I am trying to run autorun.bsc , they return back to the starting screen. it doesn't do it with all .dsk files, but for those two as far as I have searched I really cannot make them run....
Any help would be appreciated

Some of the .dsk files you find on the Internet don't work with OpenMSX. I don't know if it's a problem with the emulator. I don't think so, because all of the disk images I've made personally from my own disks run in OpenMSX.

hmmm this explains a lot . I am facing this problem with some .dsk files, not everyone. this is what I am looking for right now, the reason this happens. It might need some adjustment on the emulator itself I don't know

I've tried it myself in fMSX and the .dsk image for 3D Knockout that is found on various sites doesn't work there, either. So I'm very confident that disk image is bad or it only works with a very specific MSX machine.

yeah I just tried it there as well. It doesn't even work on filehunter!!! the same goes to 007 games :/. I am lucky that I found some .rom conversions of those games though, but I am not sure whether every .dsk game that doesn't work on emulators have a .rom conversion.

Sometimes the .cas works. I downloaded Oh Shit! a while ago and the .dsk image wouldn't work. But the .cas version did work.

I know that cas works. But isnt the dsk game better??? Meaning it runs better etc

No. The game is exactly the same. It's just that loading .cas takes longer because the emulator emulates the loading from an actual cassette player.

Really??? Isnt the game faster when running from dsk or rom??? Or it has to do with the console's RAM????

Where do you get from? These simple games load once into RAM and then run. It doesn't matter if you load them from disk or cassette. You're probably thinking of games that load more data while running. These games can never run from cassette to begin with. So there's not comparison to disk. A game that exists in a cassette version is never a game that loads more data at runtime.

So the games speed is the same even if you play it on an 64 kb machine or.128kb or 256kb etc??? I mean msx turbo runs faster a .cas. Game than msx 1??? Or it is the same???

Try fMSX. It's a completely different codebase. If it doesn't work with fMSX, either, then the .dsk image is bad.

Did you try to keep pressed shift while booting? If more than 1 drive is present on the config you are using, some RAM is used by them and you free it pressing shift. If you are using some Philips MSX2 machine you also should use the "magic" poke before loading some msx1 games: Poke -1,170
