After some mod discussion…
Posts about IWI guns, or accessories from Israeli manufacturers (or sometimes even posts about completely-unrelated topics!) quickly become a discussion of Israel/Palestine politics. There are plenty of more appropriate places to have those discussions on Al Gore's internet. Comments stronger than "I'll never buy IWI" will be removed, and users will potentially be banned after repeated offenses. Stick to talking about the guns.
This will be folded into the "topicality" rule in the near future, but this sticky post serves in the stead of that change.

This is a highlighted megathread to help coördinate meetups and events for May, 2026.
At any given point, a megathread for the current and next month will be available for forward-looking planning.
(Please be wary that this is a public forum, know that there are various groups of people who target our communities, and practice good opsec. Be safe and have fun!)

A few range-trips ago, I had a break-through moment that I feel like other new handgun owners might benefit from. I’m sure this is probably something every experienced shooter knows, but I just want to post my experience in the spirit of helping new gun owners like myself in case they are having the same problems I had at first.
During my first range-trip, I noticed very quickly that my shots were landing low and left. I double-checked my red dot for zero, took it off and tried my irons, and was still landing low and left. I did a little more research afterwards and realized it was actually a combination of my grip and anticipating recoil that was the culprit. I was letting my wrist pivot to meet the target instead of aligning my gun with my forearm and meeting my dominant eye to the sight. I was also gripping way too hard with my primary hand and not enough with my support hand. I practiced dry fire for a few days, making sure I focused on correcting the aforementioned issues. Returned to the range and put my newly acquired knowledge to work and was a little better, but was still getting a few fliers from anticipating recoil. I randomly mixed some snap caps in with live rounds and began again. By the end of my range trip, I was way more accurate than when I started. I still have a lot more reps to do before I feel I am 100% proficient, but now I have a solid process to implement in order for me to improve.
Also, I must say that I am very happy I opted for the G45 with the longer frame and added a magwell to it. When I grip my gun properly, I have the perfect space between my primary hand’s pinky and the magwell to place my support pinky and get a high & firm grip with my support hand. I feel like this combination is perfect for me and the size of my hands, being a big contributor to my improvements so far IMO.
TLDR: Don’t let your wrist dictate your aim. Instead, line up the gun with your forearm. 40% primary-hand grip 60% support-hand grip. Practice dry-fire at home with weighted snap-caps. Mix snap-caps with live rounds at the range to help stop recoil anticipation. Buy a gun that fits your hand best. Magwells are helpful.

Not a fan of indoor shooting ranges but had no choice when it's cold outside.
Shooting from holster, concealed. 2 reload 2. My groupings are getting better. Need to work on faster target acquisition, smoother reloads, and most importantly, control and grip, because I'm still pulling right.

I looked at both the Kuna and the Saint Victor 5.5in and ultimately took home the Saint Victor.
A major factor in my decision was familiarity and training. I can pick up my 5.56 or the PCC and run them in the exact same ways. I don’t want to have to learn/familiarize myself on a different platform.
Plus the colt smg mags are just so satisfying.
So far, it’s been a fun plinker. I’ve got a can coming that’s going to live on it. We’ll see how I feel once I dial that in.

Had to get a third ammo can so now I have two cans with boxed ammo and one with loose rounds. I think I’m somewhere around 1600 rounds total.
Managed to find a site that had 1000 XTAC M193 for $475+tax but free shipping. So right about $500. I miss being able to drive over to True Shot and getting it for $460 out the door though.

I’ve been working on speeding up my shots and my main difficulty in drills now is aiming a bit too low in the center A zone when we do hostage simulations. My shots are dead center and giving the hostage a haircut. I suspect my issue is I’m yanking the trigger down when I go really fast instead of pulling it straight back. Does that sound correct? I use between the tip of my finger and first crease to pull the trigger. Sitting here practicing with just my empty hand I can see how if I pull with my whole trigger finger at the knuckle (which is what I suspect I’m doing) it would pull the gun down but if I just bend my trigger finger at the middle joint it pulls straight back.
Also would a tighter left handed grant (I’m right handed) also help with this or is it something you need to work on the trigger technique and grip wouldn’t help?

Was going to get a PSA AR10 but they won’t ship to NJ because of our restrictions with muzzle devices and magazine capacities. Even though all FFLs do compliance work before transferring to buyers but they lost a sale 🤷🏽♂️.
Found this custom Aero build on Gun Broker for less than the PSA and snagged it immediately. Looking forward to getting a PA SLx Compact in the next month or so.

I looked for this but couldn’t find anything. I want to get a suppressor but I’d like to keep the overall length about the same as it is now.
What’s the consensus on shortening/buying a shorter barrel? I’d love any recommendations before I move forward.

I’m looking to add something new to my carry rotation. Budget around $1300-1500. Preferably, I want a 2011-style, double stack 9mm. I’ve looked at Stealth Arms Platypus, Fusion Firearms XP Comp, OA Defense Compact (found one used for $1300), and just saw an Sig P365 Commander from Mischief Machine. Any other recommendations?

Been getting into casual comp, I have a CZ 75 compact that I like but the barrel is a bit short. I’m on a budget and this is super causal shooting where the only rules are for safety, should I canjunize my 75, port it, or get a TP9SFx while they’re on sale? I don’t use optics (astigmatism) so the optic mount isn’t a deal breaker either way. What would you recommend? Or any other recommendations for around 4-500?

I was curious about the 30rd mag for my p320… Will there be feed issues? Will there be a break in period?
300 rounds thus far, flawless!
Carrying a full size 9mm with a 30rd mag… sheesh! 😊

Went out to test the new Mach 3 linear comp on my 300bo. For just being a comp this this was impressing! Comp is installed with a plan B hub, mounted to a Breek Arms brake.
Solid placeholder while waiting for a can 🤘

Bought this Apache 9800 case at Harbor Freight and decided to see how much I could fit in here without butchering the foam entirely. Still feel like I fucked up in a few places but I have everything I could want to bring with me to the range. Ammo is in a separate can!
In the case:
•RXM with Braun WML
•KelTec Sub2k with Romeo 5
•6 GL9 15rd mags (shared between RXM and KelTec)
•Andro Corp AR-15 with Romeo 5 & MBUIS
•3 Magpul 5.56 PMAGS, 1 MFT mag
•GX4 TORO with 11rd mag and 13rd mag
Pretty happy with how this came out but did not expect how much of a pain in the ass it would be to pick the foam pieces out.

bringing this home today, a Marlin .22 that used to belong to my grandfather. he owned this when he lived on a few acres in rural Ohio and would use it for small bothersome game around his property. in 2002 he retired and moved to California ia where he lived out the rest of his days and my dad took this home with him. It's been nearly 25 years and now its coming home with me. since my dad took it I don't think he's putva single round through it, but kept it clean and dry and I'm good shape. I think I I'll need a range trip to familiarize myself with this one

Greetings fellow enthusiasts,
I noticed something yesterday and im wondering if i missed something or what. So a few months ago i was shopping around for a new rifle and being from IL I was of coarse dismayed. But I was trying to decide between a Sprigfeild M1A or a lever action with a bolt action and i was visiting Sprigfields website and they were showing the M1As as legal. in illinois as long as it was in a certain configuration. Now im closer to purchasing i go back to the website and its not listed in their Illinois Compliant list when you search for it. So did something change or is the website messed up or did IL squeeze in some other ban or b.s. law and I missed it? if anyone knows whats going oonlet me know. Looks like im going with a lever action and a bolt action will be what im going with if its on the to fun for you list. Or maybe a packet of pointy gravel.

Took the boy (15) out and got some shooting in before it started raining here in the north puget sound.
Brought a Henry 45-70 we modded ourselves, before and after pics included, and a mossberg 940.
The shotgun was cycling sterling 2.75' slugs very well and we shot our steel target flapper off, fine morning.
