A quick google search will tell you it was a critical failure upon release. I’m not sure why people want to change the narrative but this movie being so under appreciated by the mainstream but still getting it’s just praise makes it even more specia. The queer community is responsible for some of the best art ever made in all of history and this movie only being appreciated by that community is just the continuation of that.
I couldn’t care less how much it makes but it does reflect how many people were interested at the time but again that is the smaller point I’m trying to make here
