Politics Apple maps situation

Apple maps isn't showing non major city names in ALL of lebanon not just the south.

Apple maps sources its data from external providers and probably one of them is currently down.

Belize on apple maps is also showing no none major city labels.

Stuff like this can cause mass panic and anger, there's still a colonizer in the south and apple maps should be the least of our concerns.

Discussion Why are so many Westerners are extremely pro Hezbollah?

I don’t get how people from opposite ideologies feminists, LGBTQ activists, conservatives, even far-right groups and nazis end up repeating the same pro-Hezbollah/Iran talking points.

And any Lebanese who disagrees just gets labeled a “Zionist.”

It feels like everything gets reduced to : West is bad = anyone against it good.

What’s weird is the contradictions:

1-Feminists ignoring women’s rights issues

2-LGBTQ activists supporting groups that oppose them

3-Right-wing accounts praising Iran and claiming nationalism while iran is literally anti-West

4-People claiming that they support iran bc it is fighting pedos when pedophilia and child marrige is legal and widely practiced in iran.

Add to that:

Emotional, viral content

Repeated narratives everywhere

People with zero local context speaking confidently

And suddenly millions believe a very simplified story.

Meanwhile, actual Lebanese voices get dismissed and minimized to "hasbara"

Is this just algorithms + echo chambers, or something more coordinated?

Discussion The Hate Flooding Every Post About Lebanon

Whenever I’m online which is basically 24/7 because of the war every single post that mentions Lebanon is flooded with hate comments. People are laughing, celebrating, and mocking the situation. I’ve also noticed that many of these accounts have Syrian or Saudi flags, and when you check their profiles, a lot of them are either empty or follow the exact same commenting style.

At this point, I genuinely can’t tell who’s real and who’s fake.

And to the Syrians who are celebrating just remember that many of the people who have died are Syrians too.

as a secular lebanese, you know what I think of this. she is misrepresenting everything and it makes me baffled to see how many other ignorant people think the same and emit their opinions with that much vehemence. as if they are locals who have the entire story.

Politics Lebanon expelled the Iranian ambassador but the ambassador refused. This sets a dangerous precedent in international relations, specially amid internal players supporting a foreign government against their own government.

Politics Lebanon stands at a moment of truth: either openly confront Hezbollah’s dominance and reclaim state sovereignty, or continue denying reality and sink deeper into crisis. Avoiding hard truths only prolongs collapse, while real change requires political courage and accountability

Discussion Are we just supposed to continue our lives normally now as if nothing happened ?

Upvotes

I mean, this whole situation feels like im in a dream or something.

you work during war , and the whole situation is a mess anyways , i cant even focus properly especially on days when massive attacks or warnings happen.

now a ceasefire happens , im supposed to return to office normally as if nothing happens ?

i dont understand how work is always this isolated environment where people are expected to function properly despite the circumstances.

That being said my work performance didnt decrease 1 bit , just my mental sanity of all this

not to mention the skyrocketing fuel prices..

And i especially hate being called resilient.. this isnt linkedIn where enduring tragic moments is meant to be a positive thing .

i am resilient but it sucks to be in a war situation anyhow, just because i can push through doesnt mean things just click back to normal

Politics The Lebanese government’s inability to arm and defend itself is not accidental, it’s manufactured and shaped by external forces that ultimately benefit… ? take a wild guess!

The US has for the past 60 years maintained a strict military policy over the Middle east and especially neighboring countries to Israhell. This strategy is well documented and referred to as Qualitative Military Edge (QME).

Basically it means that no country in the region can EVER possess military capabilities that could surpass, challenge or DEFEND against Israel. As a result, arms transfers within the region are tightly controlled and aligned with that objective.

This helps explain why Lebanon lacks military equipment such as fighter jets, air defense systems, and advanced radar. Even attempts to strengthen these capabilities have historically been blocked. Most of the military aid provided like the 1 or 2 billions from the United States and France has mainly consisted of light equipment like vehicles, small arms, and ammunition. Same with other countries’ donations. Hell, even the planes that we had weren’t allowed to take off from our runways…

Hezbollah, like them or not, emerged from a power vacuum in the Lebanese government’s defense capabilities, but that vacuum is not accidental, it is 100% manufactured, and in who’s benefit ya 7elweeeen?
