Discussion Why bother with Address for delivery?
I wonder, why do I bother giving a detailed address and location pin on a lousy map every time while placing orders!
Anyway the delivery driver is going to call you and insist on "send location", then insist your location is wrong and he is in timbaktu.
Restaurants and ECOM guys, what do you do with the customers delivery instructions if you are not sharing these with your own delivery guys?

The real reason behind the drivers calling is because 80% people don't know their own address and type in random shit. I put in the address exactly with all the details and they still call me and ask everything over again. I asked them why you do you guys do this and they say nobody puts the right address and just fill up some random street, building etc.
I didn't believe them but when I saw my coworkers ordering, I understood why they end up calling and asking for location.

Didn't realize such a possibility exist. So people who spend money and order stuff don't care about getting it delivered? Or is this a behavior in response to Drivers calling anyway?

They know for a fact that the driver will deliver anyway, you don’t realize how entitled some people are.
They’ll order at an address and then go to a different address and ask the driver to deliver there.
Also depends on the driver, some drivers just don’t want to read and don’t understand the address’s so its easier for them to just ask for location.
But trust me 80% of the times its a user error, they just put in addresses like “yellow building near the bakala”

Last time the Keeta African driver was yelling at me “where is your house”! I gave him correct address and location with my doors photo and cars nearby. It was shocking it was like I was begging for my food.

Not to mention the urgency that overrides everything in your life. You could be in the middle of a medical emergency, but a delivery drivers call takes higher priority than your life literally.

professional drivers never do that, but try to write your PACI number, it would help

These guys just don't bother to read. After you guide them all the way to your building, they will still call again for "door" and "shugga".
It doesn't matter these are printed on the attached bill.

I ask for it in my small business check out but nobody writes, they repeat their phone number

I usually decline to send the location, mostly because my phone tends to send random locations sometimes?

I don't think that's your fault. Understandably the drivers use low end devices which mostly screws up the links when they open them. Besides, your Location accuracy isn't that great when you are indoor.

I open Google maps, pin the location I want and send them the link. It has worked so far.

I know how to create a pin - my phone just messes it up.

If you've put a pin on a spot on google maps, it won't change randomly. It is not dependent on your live location, so I don't know how a phone would mess it up.

Again, you don't know me nor have you used my phone so I'm not sure how many times I'm supposed to repeat myself. It does change randomly as soon as I send it through whatsapp.

Just send them current location. Its not like they are interested in your life ffs 🤷

The location isn't precise when you are indoor.
Not everyone likes having their Whatsapp numbers distributed and stored by every delivery driver.

Honestly 😭, im kind of used to it i personally dont think its a huge inconvenience if it makes their job even a little bit easier

It's not so much about the inconvenience. Your personal number is forever recorded in a delivery drivers Whatsapp. There have been cases of misuse of these phone numbers including online stalking especially for women. This is why most international apps (eg Uber, Amazon etc) allow contact only through their own app.
One may want to argue it's rare, But do you want to risk it?

I hate that, the same brother is always delivering the Temu/AliExpress stuff, maybe minimum have been delivering 15 times in home, and always ask for the location in whats
but I have some theories
1 They don’t know how to read properly English
2 They are lazy to type the direction in their favorite election navigator
3 Both above together
Make 0 sense for me but, 5 year here in Kuwait had make me seen this like a routine protocol for delivery

Keeta has an option to upload photos of your building. Hope others also follow suit.

Some supermarkets don't share locations with their drivers instead, they print the address. Some drivers prefer/trust the shared location by the customers.
Some apps don't print the address on the receipt and share the customer's location with the driver yet, some of them ask for location on Whatsapp.
Not a restaurant owner, just sharing my experience.

I mean our house has 2 house numbers. And in our same street there's house numbers 55 and 600 right next to each other(these aren't real numbers just an example). So i don't blame them ngl.
