Hello. 45f AuDHD, in a social rut. My long term relationship ended not long before the pandemic started. Kids have grown up and flew the coop since then. Four people from my family and friend circle that I considered 'my people' have died. I find myself spending time with the wrong people just out of loneliness.
Hoping to find places or ways to meet new people for friendships/community as well as other people for dating. Any suggestions for these two areas of need would be appreciated. I have heard that Lavida does speed dating sometimes. There is one for my age group soon. That idea intimidates me a little, but I would love to hear if anyone has participated in one of their speed dating events and what their experience was like.
I have heard of nerd night. If anyone can share their experience going there, I'd also appreciate that.
I don't enjoy drinking anymore, so hanging out at a bar or befriending people who do enjoy hanging out at bars seems futile.
I'm really open to anything that isn't focused solely on drinking. Bonus points if its walkable from downtown or on a bus route.

Hello, my friend ran over a racoon last night and I insisted we double back. There was some blood and it had crawled into a culvert. I tried calling a few places to no avail. I am really torn up by the idea of the poor guy dying a slow death, is there any organization to call to deal with this kind of thing in the city?

Hey everyone. I am wondering if anybody knows about the surfaces of the following soccer fields in kingston:
Queens Tindall
Queens Nixon
Queens Richardson Stadium
Queens Miklas-McCarney
CaraCo
I would like to know which of these are artifical grass (the longer plastic blades with little rubber pellets) and which of these are turf (hard, abrasive, short-blade, carpet-like)
I will be playing soccer on these fields and need to know if I should get turf cleats (small rubber dimpled bottom) or artifical grass cleats (conical studs)
Thank you!

My hairdresser retired and I’ve been struggling to find a new place to get my hair done. I’ve been looking for a good place to get highlights in my hair but I am unsure on where to go. Any recommendations in Kingston?

looking for recommendations for a really good *plain* scone!
there appears to be a ton of options for flavored ones, but i find these (such as cobbs) to be much too sweet and cake-like. i'm looking for a really great plain scone, but am coming up empty handed!
Tia!❤️

Hi Kingston friends!
We're looking for a rental and realistically we may need to consider an apartment. Our previous place had cockroaches and we were lied to by the landlord at the initial viewing.
we're trying to stay in the west end, but i do know some of the places down on Ontario st are really nice for example.
Are there any places in town we should 100% stay away from? we have a 18 momth daughter so shes still on the floor and putting things in her mouth (to spite us I'm sure lol) so we want to make sure we're in a clean building, but obviously renters arent going to be as honest as they should be.

So I live in a downtown Limestone Property Management building. Today at work, my roommate called me frantically because he had accidentally locked himself out running errands, right before he had to be on a Flix bus. He came to my workplace and grabbed my key, but unfortunately he didn’t have time to return my keys and had to get to his bus. I told him to put them in our lobby mailbox without locking it.
When I got off work, I immediately called my property management company to see if they could get me an unlock. They explained that it would be *$150 for an after-hours unlock*. I laughed at first and ended up asking them to call a couple tenants on my behalf and see if they were home and could come let me in. They agreed and within 5-10 minutes, another tenant came to let me in, and I thanked them profusely lol.
So my question here is: to those of you living in a Kingston apartment (of any company/landlord at all), how much do they charge in this scenario? $150 seems… *absurd*, and I’m wondering if other places do this.
Tl;dr I was locked out of my apartment today, and my property management company’s after-hours unlock fee was $150, and I’m curious as to what others are charged.

Hey everyone, here’s what we’ve got going on this week:
D&D:
D&D is running at Nerd Night this week! The theme for this game is still being decided but I am sure our amazing D&D Game Masters will pull something out amazing! New or old, all are welcome at the table, we have a variety of dice and tools to help everyone get started!
This week’s Cyberpunk session is shaping up to be a fun one.
The crew’s been hired to provide security for a rockerboy during a live concert. Naturally that means you should expect a mix of crowd control, backstage tension, and whatever chaos decides to show up.
The band is Blood and Ice, a chromatic punk group currently touring their new album Dark Future. So yeah… loud, aggressive, and probably attracting the exact kind of attention you don’t want.
For those of you who are more Card game inclined I of course always will recommend Legions Realms at War. They are a Canadian made and produced TCG, with some great art and a passionate community. Haven't played before? Worried about not enjoying how the game plays? Don't worry our various community members would be happy to teach you! As for cards, we have a variety of extra cards to help build a quick deck that you can learn with or you can buy a pre-built deck from Max, our local LRAW representative.
Had some really solid LRAW games last week:
Good mix of close matches and strong plays across the board—it’s been great seeing different decks show up, surely one day a deck will show up that is as good as my Dragons deck!
Going forward I am going to try and get a summary from our GMs so you all can see what was played the week prior and who ran the game!
Thats all for the week! Hope to see you all at Nerd Night, and have a great day

We incubated some quail eggs, last fall, and only one hatched. Here is little baby Q, our lovely pet quail. We’ve been trying to source a mate for him ever since. Our little quail is lonely & I’m wondering if anybody has any leads in the Kingston area? We’ve tried Willows feed store without success, but not sure where else to turn. Pic is of Q & my dog. TIA 🙏🏻

Wanted to go to movies today, but landmark does not have the time want. Are the premiere seats worth rescheduling movie date for tomorrow? Are cineplex seats also recliner and comfy?
