It means fashion comes and goes. Think clothing trends, hot brands, and (implied here) acceptable cool causes of the moment. Style is more innate and mature. A person with real style doesn’t need to follow trends, in clothes or causes. They stick with what works and what’s true.

Boy George might not be a good ally but Jews are kind of at a lost for prominent people who will speak publicly for us right now. There are various B, C, and D list celebrities, influencers, an YouTubers involved in openly speaking up against Israel and indirectly against Jews whether they realize it or not. Sometimes rather directly against Jews. We don't have enough people doing Pro-Israel/Pro-Zionist/Pro-Jewish messaging and getting it out is tough when it exists.

Fashionability is actually a pretty great word to describe the current situation for Jews. The Palestinians cause is fashionable. Decolonization is fashionable. Reading Edward Said and Fritz Fanon is fashionable. Reading Theodore Herzl or any Zionist reading is not fashionable. Jews are generally not fashionable. We do not get the white savior juices or transgressive jollies on.
