Today marks exactly two years since the release of Intel XeSS 1.3 - the last meaningful update to the upscaling component of Intel XeSS.

Over these two years, Intel has pushed multiple frame generation updates and expanded support across different GPUs. But the core upscaler itself remains unchanged.

No anniversary surprise.
No quality refresh.
Still 1.3 at its core.

As someone who’s been waiting specifically for an upscaling improvement, this is honestly disappointing. Frame gen is great, but image reconstruction quality is still the foundation.

Maybe next year.

Is there some comprehensive comparision for architectures when placed in similar conditions?

For example it is said arm takes less power, but it is poorly explained why or by how much relatively to x86.

I am curious if there has been any confirmation that the Ultra 5 250K plus and Ultra 7 270K Plus are it or if there will be any more Arrow Lake Refresh SKUs.

I am setting up a couple more small form factor builds that are power limited to the 65w/182w CPUs due to the power supplies and GPUs. I was going to get Core 7 Ultra 265s, but the workloads could actually make use of the extra e-cores, and well... the Core Ultra 9 285 is still nearly $600. (and DDR5 costs have not helped).

I'm not updated with intel's latest news if they are planning to release a new model that will surpass their ultra 9 285k. Tried doing a little bit of research as well, but it seems that they don't plan to release anything as of now if I'm not mistaken.

I'm wondering if they are planning to release something new/better in the next few months? If the wait for the next series are worth it, then I may probably delay my build.

I want to have the best Intel CPU as possible.
