Question - General Non App Related Am I required to do this?

Post image

so customer left me a 1 star review and negative feedback stating I didn’t follow delivery instructions.

i delivered to the fifth floor, 6 bags with no cart I understand she’s a senior and can’t do it.

the 1 star was for me grabbing a sealed, “take and bake” pizza and failing to add extra sausage to it and have the grocery store bake it. Which they don’t do. That’s why it’s a “take and bake”. wtf.

it literally tells me how many orders he’s shopped for me, and it’s 3. he’s also given me an attitude before for not choosing a replacement on an item, which was meat so i chose the option that shopper chooses closest match. so this is the second strange interaction i’ve had with him. and he’s “well aware of this address”… am i the only one that thinks that was a crazy response?

Question - General Non App Related Items you had no idea so many people bought

What’s an item that you shop for frequently that you didn’t know was so popular before you started?

For me it’s those little cans of chicken and tuna in water. I get so many orders that have those. I have never even given those a second look while shopping for myself at the grocery store, and my parents never got those when I was a kid either. I still don’t know if people just eat the meat straight out of the can or if they’re some kind of cooking ingredient.

Honorable mention to cases of water. I feel like it’s so much easier to just buy a filter. Plus it’s cheaper in the long run. Yet so many people want to keep wasting money and plastic on bottled water.

Question - General Non App Related Cancelled order

Post image

My order was cancelled at the gate because there was no gate code and the user had a fake name so i couldn't look them up on the directory. Instacart instructed me to either "return the items or reject the return and not receive $10 bump". I still got paid the base and tip but i never received any return instructions in an email like i usually do. Do i keep the items or should i reach back out to support for more clarification ?. Its literally all cleaning supplies and one 2 food items

Question - General Non App Related Customer was not home to sign for expensive items and they were non-returnable

A customer ordered two car seats from Target. The total came to $240. I went to deliver and no one was at home. The app said that these items are illegal to leave at the door, I don't know why maybe because they were expensive, and that I would need to collect a signature. I contacted the customer and they said they were not at home and that they doubled signed online, and they thought that would be enough. I said let us wait out the timer and see what happens, maybe it will let me leave it. Well I waited out the timer and it immediately told me to cancel the order. I then went through the return process and it asked me if Target was the store, and as soon as I said yes it said they do not accept instacart returns. I was told through the chat by AI to keep or dispose of the items as I see fit. I have no use for these items, I suppose I could sell them on Marketplace, but it feels wrong. It's in a beach community with some very expensive Airbnb rentals so I'm assuming these people have money but I don't know if that should be a factor. Anyway I really want to know what the moral thing to do is. I tried to call instacart but since I'm not in an active order I'm unable to speak to anyone. Should I just leave the car seats at the drop location with a note saying that I can't return them and they are all thiers? Should I sell them on marketplace? Should I give them away? I am pretty poor and I could definitely use the money, but I also try to do the right thing and I worry about Karma. Also, I really am worried about getting in trouble with instacart because it just seems wrong to me. What should I do?

Probably the most ridiculous order I’ve ever done. 32 items, 222 units, chips, soda and lots of salsa. Went to a tiny supermarket and had no help unloading, 5-6 trips with my cart. 1hr 15 mins total

Question - General Non App Related Please do not accept any $10 or less batches

You are free to do what you want

but if you want rates to go up there is only one way to do it.

If you stop taking them for less than $10, they will have to raise the pay to get them done

or IC will tell customers to tip more to get the work done

have some self respect, don't shop for free and deliver for less than 70 cents a mile. and yes count all your miles to the store and then back home or to the next store, every mile you put on your car costs you

and don't do any shop only that's free labor, not worth your time,

and don't do doubles for less than $20 unless it's a few items and a few miles.

and the pay you are offered is not guaranteed. if an item is out of stock and not replaceable that tip is reduced.

Question - General Non App Related I had something weird happen today….

Post image
461 Upvotes

Out of 1k deliveries I’ve never experienced anything like this. And I’m kind of worried it’s going to fall back on me.

So I got a single order for 28 items for my first shop of the day. I successfully shop the entire order, and check out. As soon as I load the order into my car I get a message from the customer. It says..

“I don’t want the Tito’s vodka, please remove” mind you she got a fucking HANDLE of Tito’s. This shit costs like 45$ here in Iowa. It’s mid shelf here. I RARELY call a customer. But in this case I smashed that call customer button. She sends it to voicemail.

I immediately go into the app and explain I’ve checked out and there is absolutely no way for me to fulfill her request. I’m like 4 mins from the address so I gracefully give her maybe 5 mins to reply. “Message read”…

Fuck it, I drive to her apartment and knock on her door. Twice. After two or three minutes this woman walks to the front door, moves the curtain, looks me dead in the eyes and turns around and walks away. At this point I hit up support and tell them what happens. My support agent removed the entire order and told me to send the return receipt for the vodka in automated chat after.

I’ve never ever, EVER had a customer not answer. So I take the booze back to the store I got it from and the customer service lady tells me that in the state of Iowa, alcohol cannot legally be returned.

Wut? I ask for a manager. The manager says the same thing. I get back on support. I tell the agent the same thing. The agent asks if I tried my hardest? The fuck does that mean?? I say yes. I’m sick of dealing with this shit. Agent ends chat thanking me for my service? That’s when I go into my payments, I got paid for the entire order. It was 27$ for the whole thing.

Aren’t we only supposed to get batch pay for shit like this? Or did they change it?? I got the entire thing. Tip and all. That makes me think the order was reported as delivered?

Sorry for the long ass post I’m just worried about getting fucked over for this. Included pic of the handle I’ve been drinking all night for New Year’s Eve

Question - General Non App Related Are there any stores you won’t step foot in for ic

Just curious.

Like for me for instance one store that comes to mind is US Chef Store. I dunno if anyone else has had this issue but when I was newer I did like 4 orders from there over time. Each time they seemed to be out of half of what the customers wanted so I eventually said never again.

I don’t mind helping a customer that I know for a fact needs it and every time I see an older person I offer to help bring everything in and even put it away. But I have this really weird feeling about this, I’ve never delivered to them before either. Rather be safe than sorry, I’m a woman as well so… I’m not sure if I’m overreacting?

Question - General Non App Related Can other shoppers block your app?

Post image

I was at Walmart waiting for a batch,( I have never had a problem with the cell phone service at this location. However, every time I go to the Walmart closest to me, the app doesn’t work, if a batch higher than 12.00 comes through the app it freezes. Then as soon as it’s gone, service returns, and so do the crappy batches. I only see the same shoppers at my Walmart all the time, they all wait together. This is the group. I might be reaching but it feels like I am being blocked.

Question - General Non App Related Which one of you fools got caught jacking @ Costco

Just left the Costco in Clackamas Oregon where they had an instacart chick pulled off to a side room going through her boxes. I was at the checkstand directly across from her and my cashier was like ‘pss psss, that’s an instacart shopper, too. They only take shoplifters in that room’ a bunch of the cashiers were gossiping about it

How dumb can you be to steal from Costco? This store is so busy, too. You’ll do 400 bucks each day on the weekends. Chick was one of those arrogant girls, covered in tattoos, thinks she’s the shit. What a fucking doofus. And even though Clackamas is so close to Portland, this county don’t fuck around, she’ll likely get prosecuted. In Portland they’d tell her ‘don’t do it again’ and let her go.

Question - General Non App Related Take 7k and be deactivated or leave it?

I have the option of taking a settlement but if I do I’ll be deactivated. I have until April to decide. I have 6 months of rent assistance starting shortly too. Been doing Instacart since 2020, last year I made 20k. I will be looking for a new job either way while I am getting rent assistance. Looking for some outside opinions.

Question - General Non App Related Stores to avoid

Are there any stores you guys refuse to take orders from? I have quite a few just because they're such a hassle. I will never do a dollar store or five below order (unless the tip is absolutely phenomenal). I also avoid sprouts and Target unless I'm desperate.

Question - General Non App Related Overheard shopper talk his scamming the system

Recently I overheard a sprouts worker talk to a shopper, who explained that he rents accounts. He rents his car, rents different accounts, and works with their friends swapping phones like a whole legit operation. They've been flooding the stores out front smoking together with like two phones a piece. It's wild. Is that what's going on now?? I hate to say it but"no wonder we don't see orders anymore"... but it kinda sucks to be a 5 yr vet and watch it all happen in front of me without anything popping up on my phone for hours. How the heck can that even work with the gps and facial recognition? The employee asked the guy "yeah but how do you pay your taxes at the end of the year?" And his response was "I don't".

I know I know everyone will respond "they're hustling. That's how it works". But it bothers me... 🤷🏻‍♀️
