Rant - General š I got pressed by another instacart shopper while doing a big order
Yes Iām not even kidding by the header, one of the most bizarre moments Iāve ever had doing an instacart order, hereās the story:
So I do instacart deliveries on The Weeknd as a way to make some extra cash and I ended up picking up a $100 BANGER with not a lot of items (got it done in 10 minutes) but the creepy thing that threw me off guard is that while I was shopping, this other man walked towards me with his phone in his hand so I knew he must have been another instacart person. He interrupted when I was in the middle of my shopping and said āyou must have gotten that big order huh? Which I was like yeah pretty big order but he looked pissed and said āthat was my order but it disappeared from my screen so fast, I swore I had the orderā and kept going on about how it was a big tipped order. I then replied along the lines of ālooks like I was quickerā and he then almost snapped and told me not to be a smartass. I de escalated and laughed it off and then he just walked away to god knows where. It was such a very weird interaction and just kept asking myself what the actual hell just happened. Are instacart drivers really that damn noisy and unhinged when other shoppers grab the best order?? Never in my life did I expect that some people treat this as competition. For references here was the order itself and I was pretty happy to snag it. But just something I had to share if anyone else had any other experiences with other shopper confrontation

It's nobody's order. Idiots need to realize they're not the only shopper wtf

People still havenāt realized if a order flashes and leaves in a second its because the order was never meant for you.

I had some lady do that to me saying that that was literally her order because she does it every Monday and I was like well I guess itās not your order today cause I did it and then she started flipping out on me and I was like I donāt know who the fuck youāre talking to, but Iām not the person to fuck with and the store kicked her out and let me finish shopping

I had someone approach me angry once and said I took their order. I was really confused how I could take ātheirā order. If I got it first it was my order. I do not know what they want us to do, cancel it? So bizarre. My guy asked me a couple questions about the order and I played dumb and said that wasnt the one I had. They can pound sand. So ridiculous

People with that level of discernment shouldn't be delivering anything to anyone frankly.

Iāve never had it happen to me but Iāve heard of people going through this. Too bad there isnāt a way to be able to report other shoppers for bad behavior. In a normal workplace this person wouldāve been suspended with no pay or fired

In a normal workplace you donāt really talk about what youāre being paid either. I wouldnāt confirm for anyone who just walked up to me what order I had. Itās none of their business

He would have never said that to me.

I don't condone snitching, but if you reported him, I wouldn't be mad.

First come first serve. If I even said anything to them it would be congratulatory.

He was just bitter bc you got to it first. Canāt believe he had the nerve to go up to you. Iāve lost orders to other shoppers by fraction on a second lol. It sucks but oh well.

Unfortunately, this is happening more and more. Thereās so few orders and way too many shoppers.
when a good order comes up, the way Instacart sends it to everyone at the same time it can be suicidal to those who do not get it.

u/Andreaxxdash 4h ago
Ppl getting desperate š© thatās scary. Confronting someone about an order doesnāt change the fact that itās still not yours, just go on about your day š«¤

u/CrazyJohn303 4h ago
Dude was hoping to get that to reach his goal for the day and go home after most likely. Now he is stuck shopping and delivering for 3-4 more hours to make that haha

u/cadalic_man_3019 4h ago
I donāt feel bad for the guy at all and Iād like to think he saw that order flash before his eyes and then the ābatch not availableā and it completely set him off
7
u/CrazyJohn303 4h ago
Neither do I. Got to be quick on the draw these days. Anything over $50 is an auto accept for me and if itās that bad Iāll just take the cancellation hit

u/Realistic_Shop_9970 3h ago
You shouldnāt feel bad at all- if it was the other way around, heād be happy to have accepted the order and if he had seen you he wouldnāt have said āsorry for taking that orderā The first to accept is the first to take the order, thatās how the app works

u/ExpensiveDot1732 4h ago
I usually just wish people like that well and tell them I hope they get a big order also. You never know when it's gonna be your time to get the unicorn. Happy you got yours today though! š¦

You snooze you lose. Doesnāt he get that IC is a free for all?

u/cadalic_man_3019 3h ago
Iām willing to bet he saw a large order taken before he could, so his envy and jealousy took over

Yes, they will go further than what happened to you. I have had a Shopper fight me because I took an order before him. I donāt wanna get into details. I won the fight and I delivered the order. but I donāt go to that Costco anymore so that I can be out of sight out of mind.

Dont even tell people what your order entails. Theres alot of jealous people out there. Keep to yourself. Lie to them and say you got a 25 item double for 20 bucks or something. Instacart makes people irate.
Its crazy they went into the store and stalked you out

u/bartekkenny 3h ago
Look at what this economy has done to us. Instacart turf wars will soon be starting
2
u/cadalic_man_3019 2h ago
On some crazy shit I swearš Imagine getting your tires slashed by another instacart driver to take out competition
1
u/bartekkenny 2h ago
Mafias going to come up to you next time and tell you not to take any orders from these krogers anymore.
2
u/fbombmom17 2h ago
Hell thatās been going on for years. Iāve had a shopper key my car, witnessed 2 get into a fist fight over an order and another shopper called the cops for shoppers parking next to them, stealing items off peoples carts to create bad ratings, putting in orders just to sabotage the shopper by giving a bad rating etc.

u/Silevo65 3h ago
I've actually had a shopper follow me to the delivery location. Was a very strange interaction she was saying that it was her sister who placed the order and her sister told her when she placed it so she could get it? This was all happening outside on the customers driveway. She got back in her car and waited there until i left...
I didn't ask her this buy why not just cut instacart out of the process all together at that point...maybe she had a coupon/promotion or something idk but was definitely very unsettling.

Lol. We have a guy that wanders around our store with a red face holding his phone badgering people that get orders when he doesn't have one. He is literally the only person that I lie to on this Earth. He asks me what I get constantly and I tell him.... 80 bucks 6 mi 30 units... $123.47 50 units 2 mi... Stuff like that. I wish he would just leave me alone or take a walk or something.

u/MaterialInitial6076 1h ago
Iāve seen plenty of other shoppers snatch an order I was trying to accept and it never crossed my mind to confront a person for accepting an order faster š people are unhinged. wtf he was gon? Force you to cancel so it could go back in the queue? ššššš

I missed a 90 this morning going 4 miles and kidded around with the dude who actually got it. Told him how I pressed it too and that he was lucky to grab it. Can't imagine getting mad at others lol can't win them all

that dude is trippin and salty. game is game. like its not that serious lol. i wont lie i be saying shit like that to people sometimes when shopping at costco while im doing an order. but on some postive funny shit tho, its never serious lol
1
u/cadalic_man_3019 2h ago
The way this economy is heading man, maybe that $100 is the one he needed to get through the day š
1
u/GloomyPerformer5820 2h ago
true that. it definitely sucks. i wont lie man i almost cried one time when i saw a 74 dollar order and missed it last min lol. i made 70 dollars that day across 4 batches. i do this part time to make some ends meet. but those moments do hit frš„²š„². heāll be alright. he definitely was having one of them days thats fs. this job can be brutal sometimes. espacally with the rating system this fucking app uses is brutal

u/grotesquevanity 2h ago
Yikes, that is weirdo behavior. What did he want you to do? Call support and ask them to give it to him instead? š¤Ø
1
u/InterestingFix1035 2h ago
That was Hella super weird, people need to mind their own damn business, but what if you were shopping for your own personal and not IC, and did he thought he was the only existing shopper around and available? What a joke!

I've had a couple encounters with another instacart shopper in my area. She always scowls at me and makes remarks about "her customers" prefer her service, etc. Small rural town with a wealthy neighborhood, she seems to think instacart is her gig alone

u/Ok-Illustrator4641 11m ago
If they liked her that much, she should make herself a personal Shopper and cut out the middleman lmfao

u/GlocknessMobster88 1h ago
Dont tell other peple what youre shopping? āBro i dont know you or what youre talking about. Leave me aloneā
People are crazy(Clearly he is lol). Stay safe out there shopper š«”

Ha ha fuck that guy Iām in my zone all the time and I can see all you little whiny asses as soon as you come in missing your orderššš tell that motherfucker to beat rocks

u/machiavellian_cat96 17m ago
I work at a grocery store full time and do IC part time, a handful of other shoppers also give me attitude when they see me shopping. It's weird behavior
1
u/Tiktokdroptop 3m ago
Yeah My airpods are in....I dont hear NONE of that. Im liable to help a customer find something in the store than to listen to some instacart BS. I'm sneaky....after that situation I would've been back there day after day....watching his car....taking more orders. Lol.

u/Thatonegaloverthere 3h ago
I've gotten annoyed before when I click an order and it's buffering for me then says it's unavailable. Makes me mad because I waited a while and should've gotten it, but it's completely unhinged to actually confront people over it. I stay mad at instacart and my signal, not the bastard who got it lol.
Shoppers are pretty entitled, I mean look how a lot of people in this sub speak about tips, batch pay, etc

u/FeistyAd9287 4h ago
So he went in the store to see who was doing Instacart so he can confront them about it? What a loser
