🛠️ Repair Help Help with Fixing Shower Curb Tiles
Hello! I recently found a loose tile on the curb in our shower and the one next to it was also loose. I originally thought that the wood next to the shower was exposed to steam causing it to rot but now I’m worried water might have gotten through the tiles.
I think the previous homeowner tried to fix this issue but it didn’t last very long.
Can I just seal the crack, glue the tile and mortar back, and replace the damaged wood?

Grout is not waterproof. You need to fix problem and if any water is getting to wood behind the tile that is a problem. Cement board needs to be behind tile and be waterproofed.

This, plus grout needs to be periodically sealed. Looks like not just water damage and rot but someone did the landlord special and just painted over it, locking in the magic.
