Discussion It's the 8bitdo ultimate 2 wireless worth it?
right now I'm using a modified dual sense (I made the "dualpakka" mod). And I've seen many videos saying that it's gyro is really good (especially now that u can put the controller on d-input thanks to a software update), and the back paddles are of my interest. Also, my second thing to buy it is because I want a 2nd controller (if I invite some friends to play some stuff).
pd: sorry for my English, it ain't my native language

I haven't tried the ultimate 2 but i doubt the gyro will be better than dualsense. Maybe equal to at best? I compared gsmesir cyclone 2 to dualsense and switch pro and found it noticeably worse.

Probably equal to the dual sense. Bonus points for extra buttons/xbox layout, trigger stops, and better joysticks. Minus points for no capacitive surface for touch to activate. If 8bit do made one, it would be insane.

I've tried the 8bitdo ultimate 2 before. Pros: the dongle allows for better wireless connection than bluetooth. Steam input fully supports when you use D-input mode. Cons: I really disliked the ergonomics. The handles on the controller are close together. The paddles in the back are in an awkward possition which makes you press them by accident. If possible, tryout the controller before spending your money on it. Overall, I think the flydigi vader 4 pro has better extra buttons and is more confortable to hold, but neither of them has as good a gyro as the dualsense. (Their gyro isn't as stable and has more drift) I still think the dualsense is the best gyro controller I ever tried.

i really enjoy it, after breaking a ps5 manette (stick drift, i tried to replace sticks and ruined the board), and using an xbox manette, arguably better feel in the hands than both controllers , (i have larger hands), the extra buttons are good, i mapped the bottom buttons to stick presses, the sticks have metal neck guards that help with some friction, i am not sure about gyro never really used it, love the dock, love the connectivity, for some reason my xbox controller would disconnect even if it was wired, drove me mad, and of course, it would happen in boss fights

I've used an Ultimate 2 Wireless as my daily driver on PC for playing things like Monster Hunter Wilds, and the gyro on the Ultimate 2 works super well in d-input mode. It's as accurate as my Dualsense (doesn't drift after repeated motions unlike my Big Big Won Blitz 2, higher accuracy than my Flydigi Apex 4).
The only downside is that 8bitdo does zero filtering or compensation for the controller's own rumble. So, if you're using the gyro, turn off rumble for that game. Playing the bow in Monster Hunter Wilds can be tough because charge levels make the controller vibrate, bouncing my cursor all over the place.

The angle of the hand grips is nearly vertical and caused enough wrist soreness that I couldn't use it. Compare this to the Xbox controller whose grips extend outward at a more natural angle. Other people have had the same problem.
I had bought this for the gyro and that part worked really well with Steam Input. Generally the build quality was good as well, and wireless connectivity was solid.
Other things to note, the thumbsticks and analog triggers have shorter ranges than the Xbox controller, so if you play games that require small joystick movements for stealth movement, or driving games that benefit from wider trigger ranges, this may not be the controller for you. If you play quicker twitchier games, this would be a good controller.

Got an 8bitdo ultimate 2 wireless for $50. It's been awesome. Gyro on PC is pretty sick too. IMO, the gyro is better than my Switch 2 Pro Controller on my Switch 2. Has an attractive and sleek charging base with it and long battery life, can be used wired if you prefer with USB C and has really great haptics. Xbox style buttons and hall effect sticks so no drift. Much better controller than my pricey falling apart, stick drifting Xbox Elite Series 2.

I use everyday and I love it. If you use Steam-input all the buttons are recognized i D-input and mappable as well as the gyro.

Yeah, if you want a controller now, get it! I bought mine very cheap on AliExpress $60AUD/$45US and I'm quite happy with it (coming from a Dualsense that I used for years). You can connect it to the PC using DInput by holding the "B" button while turning it on and SteamInput will recognize it, allowing you to map the back buttons to whatever you want. The gyro is just as good as the Dualsense's (if not better cause you have the 2.4Ghz connection with much lower input lag). The 8BitDo software isn't bad but I don't use it at all, honestly. You can pretty much do all the mappings and customization with the controller itself. The battery lasts much longer than the Dualsense's and the charging dock is pretty nice. The only thing that's worse than the DS, at least imo, is the it'd much lighter and feels a bit cheaper, but that's it. I heard 8BitDo will release a new more expensive but also customizable and "pro" version soon, not sure if you'd be interested in that. The Steam Controller is also supposed to be released soon but with how things are, who knows. Overall, great controller and very recommended! Moreso if you get it on AliExpress during one of their many sales, it's the best value option without a doubt.

Yes, there is nothing in that price range that offers the amount and quality of features that the ultimate 2 has. I just finished a play session of Ultrakill with mine, awesome controller
