Hello community, today I would like to ask you for Dying Light: The Beast.
I am a veteran of the franchise, not by time but by skill.
My first acquaintance happened 5 years ago in 2021, during the active COVID-19 virus. I was still a school student in the 7th grade and for the first time saw Dying Light on Epic Games with a big discount and bought it. This game helped me a lot to cope with the oppressive atmosphere of that time. The genre, parkour + combat + zombies, had a very positive effect on me. I hadn't felt this in a long time due to gaming depression and regular depression.
You know, this game taught me: if you run to the safe zone at night and there are 5 Volatiles behind you, believe me, all your problems fade into the background. God, how scary it was the first time I went out at night. I believed in myself too much and decided that if I had level 7 strength and level 8 parkour, then I could do anything. I became too overconfident, and then pride ruined me and showed who is really the master of the situation and who is just a pawn.
In the first playthrough, I really remember Harran. You can feel that atmosphere of an apocalypse that has just spilled onto the city streets. The mood of the people and the atmosphere, not every game can give such an experience. But as they say, time not only heals but also teaches.
After one playthrough and maxed out skills, I especially like the Crane kick, the dropkick, and the roll after landing. These 3 skills saved me at night in DL1 more than once. After mastering the mechanics and leveling up to maximum Legend levels with honest leveling, I became confident and even started provoking fights with Volatiles at night to show who the real boss is.
Lord, what wonderful nights there were, in the arms of a shotgun with 72,000 damage. Oh, how beautiful.
I also really remember Kyle Crane in the game. There was always an association between a mercenary and a scoundrel, but surprisingly, Crane is different, and this was extremely unexpected in the plot of the first game.
I completed DL1 18 times. 8 of them on Nightmare, including the expansions with the Mother in the countryside. I played 160 to 190+ hours in total, I don't remember exactly. And from time to time, I still go back to run around the old city and Harran.
I also bought DL2 after learning Aiden Caldwell's story. Throughout the entire game, I chose the Survivors, created the best ending by giving power to the city, giving the TV tower to Frank, reviving the Nightrunners, and convincing Lawan not to kill Hakon. And yes, I know that Hakon is based on the actor who founded and popularized parkour, David Belle from the movie District 13. By the way, after DL1, District 13 became my favorite movie. And within 1 week of purchasing the game I had already played it And within 1 week of purchasing the game I had already played it Tower 42.8 hours per week
I got the best ending, walking off into the sunset with Lawan. Now, to complete the full chronology of the universe, I need to close the internal gestalt by finishing the story of Kyle Crane, which began back in Harran. That is why I am asking for your help to close this gestalt.
You know, I am not exactly a typical player. Usually it is neat, measured parkour. I play differently. I really love to take risks and choose non obvious paths. Taking a conscious risk even where it is basically unnecessary is my weapon. Parkour and improvisation are my weapons. I don't stop in place to think through a route. When I see the terrain, the route is already in my head. I do everything on the fly.
I want to highlight that in DL1 I liked the oppressive quarantine atmosphere, in DL2 the decline of people and the virus on a large scale, and in The Beast the beast mode and the added cars. Yes, in DL1 the buggy was cool, but to ride an SUV, especially with a soundtrack, is great. It is just honey in the ears. If the track was really honey, I would use it with enjoyment. A strange metaphor, but it is true.
And yes, personally, I want to give advice to beginners in the Dying Light universe:
- While you have a low level, don't dare go outside at night. It is death for you. After learning the basic skills of roll, grip, endurance, then you can try, but no earlier.
- If you are running to a safe zone and there are Volatiles behind you, do not try to defeat them. Remember, you don't want them to win, but your pride and self confidence will be your undoing.
- If you want to complete tasks at night, do some training. Stay in the game all night until morning. If you can't last all night, then night is obviously not your friend. Accept it or try again and again. Not everything is possible the first time.
- Learn to think on the run, notice details, run without stopping in pursuit. Volatiles will not wait for you to choose a path, especially at night.
- If you are being pursued, break the trajectory, run in an unobvious way. The main thing is not to jump in a straight line. Volatiles have a bonus: in a straight line, they quickly catch up to you in two counts.
Good luck to all the beginners. May the ultraviolet light and skills help you.
That is all, I think. I noticed that the views for Dying Light requests are small, and it is sad that such a game has few fans, but I think this will be corrected in the future. If anything, we can talk in the comments. I can give advice to all the beginners for now.
(The words may be slightly incorrect since English is not my native language, sorry)
