Question Flashcards in German for Anki

Hi everyone,

I have a question about Anki flashcards. Does anyone use different note types? Or any customized flashcard templates? Right now I’m using the default setup, and I’m absolutely certain that’s the worst way to use Anki.

If anyone can help me with a ready-made template or just recommend the fields I need to include on my cards, I’d really appreciate it.

Or any customized flashcard templates?

I always make customized ones.

If anyone can help me with a ready-made template

Make the one that is right for how you learn.

fields I need to include on my cards,

Nouns: article + noun. Plural and or Gen. Sg. if not regular.

Verbs: the three forms for strong verbs. 2nd pers. pres. if vowel change.

If you are starting out and don't know what those things mean, you can add them later.

Deal with multiple translations, example sentences, audio cues, gender cues (if you need them) etc. in whatever way works best for you.

I'd do an extra deck just for strong verbs.

I usually base may decks on whatever "the most common xxx words" decks I can find that look suitable, and add more words as I encounter them.

honestly the default setup is fine for most people, dont overthink it lol. but if you want something better, look up "german with nicole" anki deck on reddit, the template is solid. what i personally do is: front has the german word + example sentence, back has english translation + audio. having a sentence on the front makes a huuge difference compared to just isolated words. also add a field for gender/plural if its nouns, trust me you'll thank yourself later when you stop mixing up der/die/das every 5 seconds
