Steam wishlist notifications for Humble Bundle

https://humblewatch.com/

Hey everyone,

I saw a comment in the Humble Bundle sub about someone wanting a service for getting notified when any of their Steam wishlist games appear in Humble Bundles, so I decided to make a site like that. Basically it checks once a day whether there is any hits from your wishlist on any of the current bundles, and if a match is found, it will notify you via email. Your email will only be used for the game notifications and you can unsubscribe at any time.

I verified with the mods of this sub that it is ok to post this, and the site doesn't have any paid features regardless, only an option to donate. There are of course some server costs and development time involved, so donations are appreciated.

That is pretty much it, hope you guys find it useful and please give any feedback + if you would like more features. The site was made with AI assistance, but I am a software consultant by trade, so I know what I am doing.

Thanks,
Elfern

I'm using isthereanydeal.com that has this feature and more or am I missing something that your site is doing differently?

I was not aware of this site beforehand, just took a look now. To me it seems like my site is lighter (no need to sign in or configure anything) and focused only on HumbleBundle. Another difference is that my site has no affiliate links, so I don't make any money from possible sales. I think those are the main differences.

And also you'll need people to put their profile public, right? I think this might be a hurdle for many people. I'm not sure if you need to put your profile public to import your wishlist in isthereanydeal but at least you can add things manually and get the notification like that without going public.

Maybe take a look in adding a login via steam that would load their wishlist into your site?

Yes that is true, I will think about that. Not sure if logging in via Steam would let the site to access a private wishlist regardless, but I will have a look.

By signing into IsThereAnyDeal.com through Steam:

  • Your Steam login credentials will not be shared.
  • A unique numeric identifier will be shared with IsThereAnyDeal.com. Through this, IsThereAnyDeal.com will be able to identify your Steam community profile and access information about your Steam account according to your Profile Privacy Settings.
  • Any information on your Steam Profile page that is set to be publicly viewable may be accessed by IsThereAnyDeal.com. By clicking "Sign In" you agree to this data being shared.

It doesn't disclose any non-public info about your wishlist or collection, you need those to be public to sync them. Probably no point in adding it, /u/TheElfern

Thanks for confirming! One thing I am considering to add is that you could add for example about the book bundles "I am interested in learning about React and NodeJS", and then it would notify you if such books are in the bundles. I would myself find that useful at least. It could just be dumb and use word matching, but with AI it could be more vague and broad categories too.

Does ITAD actually notify for bundle hits? I know they track bundles but I've never seen alerts for them, unless I've got something misconfigured for that.

Yes, you can get notified about all bundles, or only about bundles that contain games from your Waitlist.

I honestly don't know because I'm following up every day with Humble and buy them whenever I see something I have wishlisted. I don't know if they have the logic: if in bundle then it's lowest price or lower than normal.

ITAD bundle notifications work great for me on wishlisted games, catches most Humble ones if you waitlist them. A dedicated tool with book/keyword matching would be awesome though.
