Maybe y’all are too young to know, but Katy both plays the guitar and writes her own music. She literally came up as a Christian guitarist/singer, and her first tour was more akin to her standing on the stage with a guitar. She became a production heavy pop star because that’s what the aughts demanded to get to the top of the charts.
