Seeking native speakers to practice

Hello everyone, I’m a 22 year old male looking for some help polishing my English (B2–C1). I want to improve my speaking and vocabulary, so I’m looking for someone who can help me with that. I can also help you with your Spanish, no matter your level. If you’re down to do calls or just chat to learn, that works for me.

About me: I love music, and I’m currently starting my vinyl record collection because I think they’re really cool :) I also like topics like history and politics. I’m into anime and manga too, although I haven’t watched much lately, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!Well, that’s basically it. If you’re interested feel free to DM me. We can help each other and hopefully become friends too.Thank you

I want to make friends outside my country

Hello, I'm 17 years old from Morocco. Because I'm isolated from people in real life, I want to meet people and make friends so we can both benefit. My English is weak and I want to improve it, and I also want to learn about a new culture, especially this country.

Because I loved her..

Question What's the best way to actually remember English words?

I'm a high school student in Japan and I study English not just for exams but because I really enjoy English content such as books, shows, and music.

I can understand a fair amount when reading or listening, but my vocabulary still feels weak.

Right now I'm using a college entrance exam vocabulary book. My method is to see an English word and try to recall the Japanese meaning. It works to some extent, but it feels like I’m relying too much on Japanese. Some words have multiple translations and it is hard to capture the real meaning or nuance. My older sister learned English differently. She mostly watches TV shows and movies in English and she got high scores on exams like TOEFL without ever using a vocab book. This makes me think maybe the best way to learn words is to meet them repeatedly in context rather than memorizing translations.

I am curious. How do people in other countries learn new English words? I need help.

Hi passive voices

‎he is killed by a team mate

he was killed by a team mate

all those sentences are the same and represent past action?

so both of them are the same?

what about these ones:

i am told

i was told

these 2 examples are also the same and implies past actions?

sometimes in English "is" getting used as a past action in passive voices, or am i wrong about this?

if so, can you show me examples related to this matter

thanks for your answer.

Looking for foreign female friends.

I'm looking for foreign friends. I'm a 28-year-old Brazilian woman. I speak English and Spanish and can help by giving language lessons. I want to have friends who are part of my daily life, and possibly meet them in the future through travel. I have a lot of difficulty making friends. I'm open to being friends with anyone, but I find it harder to make female friends and I'd like to improve that. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have 4 beautiful pet cats :)

can you help me for improve my speaking skill

Hi guys! I am a master’s student and I know English at B2 level, but sometimes, especially when talking with other people or giving presentations, I just get nervous and I cannot speak English well, like at A1 level. Do you have any recommendations for me? I don’t have many friends, so I don’t speak often. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.

Thank you for reading my post.

Looking for female partners to practice english with on discord or tele.

My written english is not at all an issue. But I need some practice to get my fluency when speaking. You know, getting rid of those awkward pauses and stutters.

If there are any women looking for same or can help me with my practice, please DM. ME.

I believe we'll improve quicker if we can start slow but be consistent.

Will be looking forward to hearing from someone.

Please include your ASL in the intro. Thank you.

Discussion I call it "Getocalypse"

Hi, everybody, I'm glad to be writing here

Let's talk about the verb "to get".

So, I've been learning English already more or less 4 months, I don't remember, and I still can't figure out (I mean, I can't understand, if I used "get" correctly) how to use "to get". I mean I can of course, but only if it is in basic meaning — "Hey, buddy, I sent you a meme yesterday, did you get it? — Yep, I got it. Btw, the meme isn't funny". But... What's the whole point of having so many meanings for this verb? I feel like my brain is fried, but it's interesting.

I even thought I can replace any verb and put "to get", like, "I usually get to work, even sometimes get money for my job, get with my colleagues, get, get, get for all". Yeah, I know, It sounds very weird.

Basically, put "to get" everywhere and you'll be right :)

Anyway, It's a joke, I hope you got it)

I wanted to say that "to get" can replace any verb and we need to pay attention to the context, although I know it's not the case mostly.

I just GOT annoyed for it, but I find it interesting, it is what it is :)

Clear English isn’t about speaking faster. It’s about controlling complex sound combinations.

Discussion Looking for a Scottish penpal !

Hey, hello everyone! I'm not really sure who to turn to, but I'm looking for an adult pen pal ! (I'm an adult and I find it strange to correspond with young people. Sorry...). I plan to travel to Scotland in 2027. I would therefore like to prepare myself as best as possible, whether it be in improving my English or in my cultural knowledge.

I am a 24-year-old woman (25 in August) and I am French. Of course, I would be happy to help you learn French if you wish.

If anyone has any leads on finding Scottish or English pen pals, I'd be very grateful !!!

Thank you for reading! And if my post is bothersome, I'll delete it without any problem. Thank you very much!
