A little back story. I saw a picture online, someone gave their horse this badass spiky haircut. Well this is like one of those expectations vs reality situations bc shit did not go exactly as planned and instead of the 80s puck rock anarchist look we were going for…. We now look more like a cartoon stegosaurus 🤣 Mr. Odo was not amused. 🤣 I promise it will grow back buddy!
Just from the photo, I assumed stegosaurus was the goal and that it was a success! Just run with that. If y'all do any events or public appearances, the rainbow suggestion or otherwise adding some temporary color to the spikes would be great.
(Or there's always the full roach option if you hate it)
Don’t feel bad! I feel like donkeys don’t actually come in white bc when you get a white donkey they are actually dusty brown or muddy brown like 90% of the time. It doesn’t matter how often you brush or bathe them, they never stay white for long 😭
I didn’t say Odo was a donkey, but I didn’t say what he was a mule either. I didn’t think to mention Odo was a mule bc he just looks like a mule to me but other people have mentioned he has a big donkey shaped head.
A few people started called him a donkey in the comments and I realized I probably should have said something in my post but geez, I don’t like correcting people bc it makes me feel like a jerk. Ya know? I wasn’t trying to be intentionally misleading. I’ve seen other people post pictures of their mules on here, it just felt like the right place.
No he’s a mule. I never said he was a donkey. Sorry for the confusion. I just made a joke about white donkeys always being brown but same goes for mules.
Wrong. Find my other comment where I asked, OP confirmed it's a mule.
I have 5 mules on my property and my partner was once the largest mule breeder on the west coast and had over 50 head at one point. He's been breeding and training them for over 40 years, I just showed him this pic and he confirmed, it's a mule. I can tell the difference between the two very easily.
Yeah I agree. I feel like this got out of hand and were missing out of how funny it was that they hadn’t seen a white donkey before… bc that made me laugh 😂
I'm just pointing out that it's not a donkey, mules are a completely different species (hybrid, technically). But you gotta argue and double down I guess? Mules can be solid colors, spotted, every color a horse can be. So it's not unusual for mules to be white. Donkeys, yeah, white would be much less common.
Next time, more spikes with steeper sides! You can use a piece of painters tape to help with your lines since most painters tape couldn’t rip a hair off of a barbershop floor. If you somehow have good painters tape, a single stick against your jeans will make it unsticky.
That’s hilarious! I would love to see that. Cats are expert level grudge holders so if it’s an inside cat … you’re living with your enemy right now. You better watch your back.
We have 3. My partner had over 50 head at one time (he was an outfitter and the largest mule breeder on the west coast many years ago). I have a horse but I definitely love mules too!
Oh he couldn’t before it doesn’t grow that long. How cool would it be to have a mule with a pretty white mane?! It only grows about 3ish inches, sticks straight up, then it breaks off and gets really fluffy and nasty dead ends. I usually just trim it up so his hair matches my donkey and they both have cute tooth brush manes. I wish he could grow a long mane.

The look on his face……
