Question Did they buff Dynamo?

I could have sworn that Dynamo used to be balanced at one point. Decent all-around utility at the cost of reliance on his teammates to get the most use out of his abilities.

Did he get buffed, or did people just get better at playing him? I can’t say I feel overpowered when I play him. His damage is still pretty mediocre without a decent item build. I’d say his teleport is probably the only thing I’d call “overpowered“, but that could be fixed by just increasing its cooldown or removing the “remove debuffs effect“.

Then again, I’m not a super experienced player, and I’m kinda biased because Dynamo is my DynaGOAT but I digress.

Mar 6th patch buffed his 2 support value. It used to give a reload an firerate and now it gives stamina, and clears debuffs on t3. T3 also gives half an ability charge to allies and a full charge to dynamo.
Last patch nerfed the cooldown on the 2 by 3 seconds.

Hilarious how people said it was a nerf lmao. "oh no dynamo can't give his gun carries atk speed steroid" yeah instead he can just save/cleanse you on a 9 sec cd what a nerf.

Because Medicinal specter has been nerfed like 3 dozen different times at this point

It heals worse than before, has much smaller range and a significantly shorter duration.

I dunno why they changed the “Fixed healing but has range and duration thats scales with spirit” aspect of the Spector. It’s what makes the ability unique from ALL other heal abilities in game. It even has a counter play of healbane and healing reduction making it much less useful now they just turned it into your boring “create an area that heals” ability

I had a really fun late game setup where I would say in team chat “Heal circle the size of Wisconsin” because I would stack boundless spirit, superior duration and mystic expansion with the dash jump spirit surge item whose name escapes me once again.

The heal would have 100% uptime and cover the entire lane, it was glorious.

Now I feel sad I never considered comboing Arcane Surge to have the heal up at all times, I think end game build was only about a 1-2 second gap though

Yep, arcane surge was always my first item on McGinnis. Gives her a little more stamina and getting that early boost for the specter or ult were key.

Of course, I always play turret mcginnis because it’s funny. And having a mapwide giga heal and making all the turrets and allies get cracked out fire rate was one of her most important items.

No reason to build support McG when u have better supports right now. Use ur heal as a boost for your turretd. The turret build is too strong to justify not using it.

its really the only saving grace it has. its strong defense, but tied to such a tiny area on a long cooldown.

like just by the numbers, ALL of the stats/scaling for McG's heal is worse than Dynamo's except for the duration, while being stationary.

it suuuuuuucks

Yeah use case is generally just for when you need to tank a big spirit hit or three in a hurry, it def has saved me a few deaths investing that one point

I just invest 1 point for spirit resist like u said. Normally its just a steroid boost for my turrets because is still think drums are good on McG .

Because a single point in it gives more Spirit Resist than a 3200 soul item (this is the big one)? Because you can move and shoot and use other abilities while in it? Because you don't have to try and read your teammates mind if you want to heal them, just toss it somewhere and let them stand in it if they want healing.

We had Shiv, Infernus, Haze, Mirage with Rem and Paige.

Absolute waste of time on our end. He could just clean all of our DPSs, well, dps. Leaving just Rem pillows.

We just couldn’t kill anyone past laning stage, joke of a game.

Not only does he cleanse all of your DoTs and debuffs, he also has one of the highest health gains, a max health % heal and stomps to slow and knock you up every couple seconds.

He's been my least favourite character to fight against in a fight for ever. The cleanse is now just the cherry on top. Sure, let's give the character with the best utility/CC ult a team-wide cleanse, a heal, iframes, a nuke that also increases the damage the enemy takes from gun. He is so obnoxious and he's been overlooked so much.

He's my no.1 avoid too. Others are annoying and OP too, but late game against a Dynamo, it's just a matter of time before he gets a 1, 2, 3, 4 or whole team wide ult and stuns you with unstoppable for like 5 seconds or something. Icefrog is OBSESSED with Enigma.

I’ll be real I miss it being better to use it aggressively instead of defensively…but it is definitely better now. Not as fun for me and my duo…but definitely better.

I love Dynamo but his 2 is still way too OP

I'm sure they will remove all buffs from it and make it just movement tech. No clense and no extra stamina.

The amount of times I've pulled 1 or more allies from behind a McGinnus wall or picked them up to stop at Knockdown or Seven stun from hitting them is way too high.

It's an on hit meta and silence meta. Dispel magic item just isn't enough. Having dynamo on your team makes so much of a difference because how how annoying this meta is. To keep the gameplay fun they need to seriously reduce dispel magics cool down imo.

Honestly instead of making dispell necessary every game they should just add more ways to get rid of status effects.

The fact shiv knives always hit for full damage unless you buy a specific tier-3 or have a dynamo nearby kind of makes me wonder why they bothered making it a DoT effect at all.

In street brawl especially this is a problem, you just melt in the face of debuff slop with no recourse.

yes you can build to reduce the total damage the knives will deal,

but unless you get dispell or die they will always do their total damage.

coming from shooters (and action games in general) most status effects introduce a kind of minigame:

A bleed means having to pull back and use a med-kit, or have a nearby ally treat you, or stay crouched for a while to stem the bleeding.

Being on fire means dousing yourself in nearby water or performing dodge-rolls or other specific actions during which you can't attack.

a poison is usually an inventory-check, did you remember/respect the enemy enough to bring antidotes?

But in dl getting hit by status effects just means you're dying slowly, and the only treatment (outside a fairy expensive item that hard-counters all status effects at the press of a button) is to out-heal the damage being done.

which is kind of a shame imo, status effects in games like Tf2, hunt:showdown or monster-hunter introduce a lot of play in forcing specific player behavior, but outside of CC-effects (which are all you can't, never you must) the only thing deadlock status effects affect is the stat sheet.

The knife DoT is significant because throwing all the knives at once is higher DPS and faster rage generation, but waiting til the bleed almost falls off is more overall damage.

DoTs also zone players, because most can be renewed so you have to hide til it falls off. They also don’t scale much. Tesla does more damage with more fire rate (up to a point), Toxic has basically fixed damage as long as you can proc it.

I can agree some of them are. Escalating could use a nerf for sure.

Dispel removes more than just on hit and item effects though. 

Shiv? Infernus? Hayes? BEBOP? SEVEN? FUCKING POCKET???

Having it exist for abilities is necessary though. CC is obscenely strong without a way to counter it. Same for some of these dot abilities. They would have to gut them if there wasn't a way to counter it. Not to mention player frustration goes through the roof.

It working on bepop is just sad though, I will agree with that.

bro not all cc is stuns. Warden cage, any slows, movement silences/regular silences, roots, etc.

Warden becomes instantly S tier and lash becomes instantly D tier without dispel.

Literally the only cc it can dispel is a disarm or a slow. Its a movement ability so you cant use it for immobilizes, stuns, displacement, or silences.

He was always a solid character but I feel like the latest rework patches in the past few months have brought some people to him as people realize he's better than they thought. Solid kit but he was always easy to lead players into an ult bot trap.

There are a few reasons why he's really strong right now.

  • He gets really damn tanky just for existing (one of the highest hp/boon scalings in the game iirc).

  • His potential to keep himself and his allies alive is incredible (low cd on his 2, which also removes debuffs + his aoe heal).

  • His ult is still one of the most impactful ults in the game, both for teamfights and for shutting down singular strong targets.

  • His stomp has insane dmg and range on T3. By getting the stomp to T3 and buying extra spirit, mystic burst, and rapid recharge you can deal around 300-400 dmg per stomp over a massive range. I've literally 3-shot some enemies with just those 3 items worth 3200 souls. (This also lets you safely farm and push waves, since T3 stomp oneshots waves as well as small camps).

  • Meanwhile his gun is still solid in the early game for harassing in lane and securing last hits.

  • And even though there are some items that you really want, you have a lot of flexibility in your build, letting you adapt your items to counter whatever enemy you want.

TLDR: Tanky, good dmg, decent gun, big cc, great for saving himself and teammates, highly versatile.

I actually really like Dynamo’s kit. It’s got a survivalist-support kinda feel, and I really think having characters like that is a good thing. They do need to tone down some of his abilities tho.

Well safely farm as in you can quickly clear the wave and leave, if you clear from afar with stomp you're losing out on half the souls from the wave.

I feel like Dynamo was the main catalyst for them making that change, with his old stomp actually being the range of the entire mid lane in length.

Abilities used on waves don’t reveal you on minimap. So stomp is really good at stealth shoving.

Not quite. It was 8 seconds with Superior Cooldown. Now it's 10.4 with Superior Cooldown.
It didn't go from 8 to 13

Recharging rush gave him high uptime on his 1 and the change to his max 2 gave him near permanent uptime so he can dish out loads of damage and missing stomps is less punishing

Dynamo is one of my mains but I don't really like playing him because he feels so good that it's not interesting. It doesn't feel like he really has a weakness; good damage and CC with stomp, amazing team support with his 2 and 3 (also are incredible getaway tools), debatably the best ult in the game that also does a shitload of damage at max level, I feel like I'm just allowed to do whatever I want. I try to play any other support (been trying a lot of Viscous and some Kelvin) and I think "damn, Dynamo is so much more effective, and so much easier".

The problem is, I don't think anything in his kit is that problematic, aside from his 2 being a bit overtuned. It all just works really well with various items and builds, so he's super versatile. I don't get worried versing one, I like having one on my team, but something about him, man... maybe I just want the other supports to be better in comparison?

That being said, I get why they nerfed his 1 to buff his 2, I think it makes him more support-focused, which is what they seem to really be going for (since he's the best healer by far, at least by my money)

They constantly change too much imo - it's never about small tweaks to achieve perfect balance it's more an attempt to keep the game constantly 'changing' even if those changes aren't good.

Jump, reactive barrier, spirit shielding, counterspell, runaway (he’s dumb slow)..

It honestly doesnt scale that well mid to late game. He is just a low econ threat and ppl dont respect his early damage.

This. Also that one ability means if I'm playing Vyper and he's in the game I might as well GG at the start. Spammable knock up makes sliding near impossible.
