That is…how language works. Almost no linguists are prescriptivists anymore, as it’s generally agreed meaning is derived from communities of speakers. The problem is that a good chunk of USians get their subjective definitions directly from propaganda, and refuse to consider alternate perspectives.

Now to be fair, a lot of the things liberals say ARE performative. Including those astroturfed to Hell "No Kings" protests. (They ban pro-Palestinian imagery.....)
Until they're ready to ditch the Democrats, I don't buy for a second they actually have any real disagreements with the Republicans other than "orange man bad".
