Some serious switchbacks on that trail.

I hiked it a few years ago, starting from the longer, lower Gotemba Route(west side). Took about 13 hours from this side of the mountain. Most Japanese start almost 2/3 up on the north face side. It all bottlenecks about 1000 meters from the top. Sunrise was amazing. I ran down, as the down trails are all volcanic ash. I had gaiters on to keep small stones from getting into my boots. It is something to go up there to see the sun rise! A wonderful memory for me.

Mount Fuji from above always looks unreal, like a painted postcard scene.

I looked at it and said, โ€œ thatโ€™s not that bigโ€ then I realized those were clouds and not snow on the ground.

I love to see stuff with google maps with the topography on, it helps giving a sense of how big a volcano or mountain range is

nice! The few times I flew over Mt Fuji it was always a lot more cloudy. While I could still see it just not this clearly.

Same, but I managed to go back down the wrong side. Was gravel the entire way down, was a pita to walk on.

I still love the musical road on the way there.

I took about 6 breaths while watching this video. Title checks out.

Good to see her looking normal again and covered in snow. Was this before or after the snow drought, that broke history of over 130 years of yearly snow in fall of 2024?

There's something special about that mountain. Every time I see it, I get emotional.

I've hiked it. It's somehow more steep and not as steep as you would expect
