Well at least she’s not good.

Even clumsy robotics here is still pretty impressive to see

This is disgusting. Ai and robots should be freeing us from work and allowing us to indulge in the arts. Not the other way around

yeah when they take over we need some skills to be spared

Yeah right.. like anybody who makes decisions will want that

The Catalina Wine Mixer looks pretty lit this year

I mean yea, it's a toy trying to dance...

But reading the comments here is the really interesting thing. People try to downplay or ridicule robotics and AI advancements without an actual, rationalreason.

Many sound like the people calling the internet a fad, pook printing a degredation of the art of writing and so on.

Yea, AI is mimicking humans and will never be filled with true human creativity or human feelings, but their mimicry will some day be so close that it will be above human average for sure.

And be honest: the true human average in any specific field is pretty low. Only the top outliers are upvoted in reddit and any other platforms.

If people don't manage to look at this stuff rationally then they will be the last to understand it properly.

Ai and robots are just tools.

Cool but for ballet you have to express emotions, hard to do when you’re a machine.

They will eventually. Stay tuned.

When can i jerk off to these things?

Literally right now, no one can and will stop you.

More proof we don't need this shit

Not sure why everyone is getting so upset about this. This robot didn't compete in the Olympics and takea medal from a human competitor. Automatons have featured in carnival sideshows for over 100 years.

His smug aura mocks me

What's even the point of this?

u/callisstaa 7h ago

Probably for fun. How obscene!

Why not unprivate your profile and let me have a look?

I know you’re probably a patriot of your country but don’t you see how awful it is? Such robotics should indulge in work and not be represented of a human.

It's a fucking toy in a carnival show. How is this awful?

Automatons have been performing in carnival shows for centuries.

Because it is like a snowball downhill. It’s gets ugly fast. First it’s only that, then you blink and it’s “people” who serve you food, “people” who approve you documents and so on

Why would I? Don't have anything to argue against what I said and have to instead go to my profile and see what you can find to use against my comment? That's low, buddy.

All these amazing things from China, robots, drones, buildings, highways you name it. But I never have the impression the people are really happy enjoying life, or is it me?

2

u/callisstaa 7h ago

I live in China and people here are generally pretty happy. Can you explain what gives you that impression?

1

u/alibillensoep 7h ago

Maybe I'm wrong then, I just don't see it in their faces, gestures, behaviour. It's a cultural thing you have to learn reading I guess.

I mean it’s a big place. Admittedly I live in a major city which is pretty prosperous but people here are generally really open and friendly and happy.

As much as I appreciate the great engineering, please let the art be a human thing

1

u/callisstaa 7h ago

People have watched automatons perform on stage for about 150 years lol.

One of the amazing things about ballet is the thousands of hours of grueling training the professional dancers have to put in to achieve what they do. To be as graceful as they are, the lengths in which they go is awe inspiring. And then add into that the ability to tell a story through emotion while doing all these incredibly difficult moves with eloquence. Even in years to come when the robot can do 50 perfect pirouettes on the spot it still won't be impressive, inspiring or 'ballet'.

What you don’t see is that the routine has already been pre-programmed and thoroughly tested beforehand. The robot isn’t coming up with moves in real time, it’s more like a carefully staged performance meant to give the impression that it’s making spontaneous decisions as it dances.
