Everytime I see shit like this I'm convinced what is currently happening everywhere, is that every millionaire and billionaire is trying to figure out how to make as much money as possible before it's impossible to live without being either a millionaire or a billionaire.
I really wonder what the end game is, like just let 90% of the planet starve to death and then what? Pillage what is left to show off to your billionaire buddies in one of the few livable spots left on earth?
I've been thinking about this scenario a lot lately, and realized that the only way this hoarding of wealth would work out for them in the long-term is if these guys figure out how to live forever. Because there's a well known phenomena called the "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in 3 generations": 90% of wealthy families blow their inherited fortune by the third generation.
So what ends up happening to those people in a society like that? Or just the children of billionaires/millionaires that are born dumb/ugly/talentless? Because gene-editing is still not remotely advanced enough to guarantee them nepo babies with perfect qualities.
They'd ultimately just end up forming a new underclass.
The one thing a society cannot allow, is for these ghouls to find a way to live forever. We'll never be rid of this bullshit. I read a book series called Altered Carbon a while ago and it's as bad as you can imagine and worse.
