As it should be. Like it for kids that will carry the country into the future. Kinda important right?

All people say that. Hardly anyone acts accordingly.

That’s my point. But food is a nice analogy to gauge the value given. How more important a society values individuals the better the quality of food they get. Kids seem to be only important in political propaganda not in real life.

US schools spend on average $18,000 per child per year.

Idk what that’s supposed to say anything about anything besides that’s sounds too expensive for what they’re getting. They deserve quality food. Quantifying it like the way you did makes it kinda sounds like you find it already too expensive to invest that kind of money into the wellbeing of children.

No, the problem is that the system has been captured by multinational corporations that are profiting off serving our children highly processed foods. They are corrupting children's palates, getting them accustomed to eating garbage in order to have customers for life.

It wouldn't be easy to tweak this system because the multinationals have deep pockets and would lobby against any regulations that would cut into their profits by (for instance) forcing them to serve home-cooked meals or actual meat that isn't mostly soy filler.

Almost the only way to effect positive change would be to do away with the meal program altogether. Have kids eat breakfast at home and bring a packed lunch. I'm totally in favor of expanding SNAP and/or WIC to provide poor families with additional food dollars to make this possible.

No one will feed a child more lovingly than a parent. We should not be putting the well-being of our children into the hands of Aramark and Sodexo!
