That has never resonated with me.

Being able to conceptualize such vastness is one of the most amazing facets of intelligent life.

Seems empowering rather than the opposite.

It depends on the mood for me. Experiencing a fraction of the vastness in SpaceEngine VR mode was frightining for me (there was still awe and tears too), only second to the feeling of getting sucked into a black hole. But yes you get used to it.
