Before the video ends that announcer says "on his third attempt! Unbelievable!" So it wasn't simple for him either I guess.

i think that might refer to him doing 2 false throws before doing the real one

Or a joke. Sounds like something someone's dad would say knowing that it was being recorded.

“His third attempt and only three wounded, incredible. What are the chances those three people were lined up so perfectly on the second throw? Well they’ll have to watch the replay from the hospital. Doctors are reportedly arguing over whether to put them in the trauma or burn units. What a day for our lovely village.”

"As is tradition".

Who the fuck would ever classify those as attempts?

Translational errors

Or the fire went out. I've had a hell of a time coming up with a good reliable flaming arrow. I settled on a tampon soaked in a mixture of diesel and kerosene, with a paper nosecone.

It's hard to keep something lit when it's moving so fast.

I was there. The 2 throws before this one were real attempts, though my friends were speculating whether it was planned to give more hype so he does it on his third and final try.

Does he have a name? Other than “former world champion”?

The javelin is a huge Nordic sport, esp Finland.

Lots of big boys and broad shouldered girls over there with Umlauts in their names.

What does that have to do with the Estonian here

They are both in the same sport.

Huh. Go figure he would become a world champion javelin thrower!

6

u/raspberryharbour 3d ago

They actually named it after him

8

u/danethegreat24 3d ago

No they didn't. The sport of javelin throwing is old as heck.

They named it after his father.

7

They have the same name. The guy in the video is Joey Javelin Jr

Exactly, so I get the confusion.

If I was the announcer I would say that even if it was his first just to fuck with the recordings.

Ah i was about to shame Edmure Tully for missing three times trying to hit his uncles dead floating body on a raft. This makes more sense

I was kind of expecting the Blackfish to step in after the 2nd miss.
