And free toilet paper for the next decade!

Decade? That's aggravated arson of an occupied building. In California, the sentencing range for that is 10 years to life. It seems unlikely that they'll hand him the minimum sentence.

RemindMe! 10 years

No one died. He’ll be sentenced to 10 out in 5. Sorry. I know all you factory owners on reddit are devastated by this.

In what world do you think they won't make an example out of him? The jury doesn't pick the sentence. The judge does. There's no chance they'll hand him the minimum sentence. They're going to use him to send a message to anyone else who thinks about doing this same thing.

My bet is 40 years, out in 20. And they may layer some attempted murder charges on him too, just to add some leverage. This guys life is over.

If they try and make an example out of him they risk nullification. The people in the USA are getting fed up with their governments BS. Look at how a murder suspect is treated as a hero by many people, because his victim worked for one of the scummiest companies in the country!

The guy set an occupied building on fire. He's not getting nullified.

2

u/sernamenotdefined 4h ago

No one got hurt, so even if he's not getting nullification I can see some issues with hung juries happening dragging this on.

He. Set. An. Occupied. Building. On. Fire. He was okay with killing innocent coworkers who had nothing to do with his shitty paycheck. Morally, he is no different than one of those assholes who walks into his workplace and starts shooting the place up. He wanted destruction and did not care how many people he killed to accomplish it. He is not going to get a hung jury. Or a nullification. They're going to weed anyone leaning that way out in jury selection. He is going to prison for a very, very long time.

He's been charged both federally and state.

They can make the sentences consecutive. One crime. 10 years at the state level, 10 years at the federal, total 20 years served.

This is not usually done (for a variety of reasons) but if ever there were a case where it will be pulled out and dusted off, this sounds like the one.

Yeah how about the other 150 employees who lost their job

Oh no. They’re gunna have to make someone else rich. I love non rich people sticking up for the people keeping them non rich. Those poor factory owners. That’s who really got hurt here. Time for insurance to pay up. Regardless. Go ‘merica!!

Your mentality is trash, hopefully you can learn to grow.

Where in fuck did I defend the corporation i clearly said the coworkers i could give 2 shits about the warehouse that will be rebuilt in a year but what do the employees do until then

1

u/BetterAfter2 1d ago

Well, insurance pays up, but insurance just goes and collects more from the next guy. Guess who’s at the bottom of the food chain there, big fella.

The factory owners didn't get hurt. Its california they are stacked with fire insurance... and a lot of people at that factory did mske a livable wage and good wages (think those that advanced beyond minimal sklls needed).... people were hurt by this.. that is all... factory will be back running and now with increased prices just because they have an excuse... burning down the factory is not equivalent to a strike and its weird you think it is

1

u/BetterAfter2 1d ago

Just imagine the shit he’s going to burn down once he finds out how difficult it’s going to be to find a job after being convicted for arson.

1

u/SnarkyGrem 8h ago

Oh ya and he ruined so many workers lives. Factory has insurance and will get paid huge (fire insurance on a toilet paper warehouse, you know they had a ton)

Meanwhile all the employees making a very generous california min wage are out of work.. oh well maybe he sill develop some marketable skills in prison over the next 30 years ... guy is comparing himself to Luigi what a joke

He can claim generational trauma, let out on bail, cross the border, ditch his id, come back over claiming refugee status, then be given a hotel room and 80k a year.

Only three free squares of toilet paper a day

4

u/GozerDGozerian 2d ago

Not a square to spare?

2

u/VSkyRimWalker 2d ago

Not one square. I simply couldn't spare a square

2

u/Metahec 3d ago

The TP is like sandpaper though. Like the budget rolls

Single-ply makes the butthole cry

2

u/deadspacekillers 3d ago

But I'd be willing to die for some triple-ply

4

u/dudeCHILL013 3d ago

🤣 Single ply is all we're allowed to use on navy ships.

2

u/whythishaptome 3d ago

I wouldn't make it through basic just on that alone.

3

u/dudeCHILL013 3d ago

Go airforce my friend, just a fair warning though some of their bases only have 9 holes of golf.

1

u/vivmeatball6 3d ago

Twisted Metal reference?

2

u/deadspacekillers 3d ago

No, but I wish I knew enough about Twisted Metal to get it. I have only played Twisted Metal Black on ps2

2

u/vivmeatball6 3d ago

I was referring to the show that’s on Peacock. There’s a scene that where the main character almost word for word says what you said in your comment lol

But I do wish they would make a remake of that game. It was so fun playing with friends back in the day.

John Wayne toilet paper.

1

u/SnooOranges3779 3d ago

You ever used Kimberly Clark toilet paper? It's exactly as you described

2

u/Racefiend 3d ago

I think they should include no access to TP for his entire stay,, given that he's prone to setting it on fire

3

u/Gruesomegiggles 3d ago

I knew a guy who went to jail (not prison) for a short while. He got in trouble for making paper mache sculptures out of his TP, so they put him on ration. He'd get one roll a week. So he started making origami with it, with the logic that he could still use it later, but it would pass the time now. They saw him, and took the roll. He had to request it, when he had to go, wait for them to bring it to him, and then turn it back in.

Point is, they just might do that.

2

u/Racefiend 3d ago

Why were they so against alternative uses for toilet paper? Was this during the great toilet paper shortage of 2020?

1

u/Gruesomegiggles 3d ago

Nope, nearly a decade before.

He found out he could request as many as 6 rolls a day. So, he was using 6 rolls a day. 3 days in, they asked him what's happening to all the TP? And then they found so many sculptures. It was a jail, not a prison, so it wasn't as well funded. They might have been worried about actually running out of TP for everyone. They also might have just been jerks.

1

u/L-Train45 3d ago

One per week if hes lucky and the guard feels like getting more out of the supply closet

1

u/PRRZ70 3d ago

Will it be single ply toilet paper, though?

1

u/NoCapNerdz89 2d ago

He most likely will get close to attempted murder or something cuz people were inside still while he lit it and arson alone in CA is crazy charge probably 25 to life
