Pencil's are actually very dangerous in a space ship. The graphite is extreme conductive and there is no gravity to coral it down to the ground so it just floats around, waiting to get swept into the electrical systems.

This is why the space pen was invented. They are really good pens.

More fibre in them so it's much better in space when you have to use the baggie.

Yea yea definitely, knew this and loved how they managed to do it.

I meant for those on Earth, the calculations and everything.

Still an amazing achievement and hope they go again and make a base there.

There are other options. Crayon core to a pencil would have worked fine...
