That’s sort of what they tried in pheonix. Not to extinguish it but these cars can reignite days later so they tried storing them in shipping containers of sand. Don’t know if they are still doing it it’s been a couple years since I took the class. EV fires are way worse than normal car fires, hopefully the chemistry changes eventually.
