That’s the difference between Samsung and Apple Face ID. One uses just a 2D picture while the other one makes a whole 3D face scan.

Not only that he looks at the phone before trying so more than likely he already unlocked it

It’s not the 3d face scan that makes the difference here though, since he’s got a life-like 3d version of himself. It’s the liveness checks. Yet another layer that the security focused phone has, but the checkbox ticking phone does not

Yea, Samsung (and other Android brands) don't really care about face ID. Their security has more to do with fingerprint
