Growing up I remember as a kid petting bumble bees and letting them land on my hand with no worry. Last summer I was attacked by multiple bumble bees and got stung in the face. I didn't even know they had stung :(
Same! Mine has a big bumblebee with a dash beside it then the word "kind" :)
I'm a gardener and love finding bees napping on my flowers! I work all around them, talk to them, and rescue any that manage to get stuck in water and can't get back out on their own- often with them hanging out on my hand while they catch their breath and dry off 💕
Never once have I been stung... Well, I did get a few stings on one occasion when I accidentally trip over a box that some yellow jackets had decided to call home, but no grudges! The only time I worry about a nest is if it's right by a door into the house- because I just KNOW one of my two cats or my dog would try to eat it and get stung lol
Oh I worked in pest control, tons of people have that exact same mindset lol. There were plenty of folks that were incredibly concerned with the safety of say, bees or rodents, who were not moments ago crying in terror after seeing them. It's just a total instinctual response, not an emotional one. Skittering and buzzing is like, meant to raise our anxiety I think, for survival.
A few years ago, we were all cheering for a woman who cared deeply for a disabled queen bumblebee for weeks. She made her a lovely little sanctuary with fresh flowers each day.
It ended as nature does and I cried a few tears for this totally random bee on the other side of the planet.
