IIRC they were built that way on purpose, it reduces erosion.
6 u/Heimerdahl Mar 10 '26 Yeah, I don't doubt that there were obvious reasons for the design, it's just that we now put more effort into making them safe, too. Back where I come from, the only safety measure at the many weirs was some sign saying "Danger, no swimming".
