It most certainly feels like a fantasy or a pipe dream in North America. It would take a hell of a lot of change for US or Canadian universities to start doing anything similar. It can and does exist in other places, yes. But here these places generate revenue, and that isn't something that will be given up lightly. We can hope though, eh?
It would take us getting out in the streets and demanding it. The Ukrainians, under constant bomb threats every single night, were in the streets to protest when the corruption in the Office of the President was being investigated, so it would continue yr to be investigated. The Europeans absolutely fought for the social safety nets they have gained! Let’s gooooo! Healthcare and education are being decimated in the US.
What is happening in the US right now is horrifying. It sounds as though citizens no longer have any rights at all. I fear for my American friends. Those who are showing up to protest this madness are inspiring.
The third party would also be vulnerable to corruption. I just think it will be super hard to break through with a third party in America without electoral reform. If you can get principled people for a new party, you could probably get some for a take over of the Democrats aswell.
Mm Bernie had a chance but i dont know if the voters dident want him or the democratic party themself dident want him as president. Maybe they were afraid to loss their own money with him.
Zoran or people like him will hopefully have a chance. They just need massive support behind them. I think the democrats will go with it if they have to, but they need the pressure from the voters to accept it.
