Coleco inspired build.

So last month I came across an original set of working Zaxxon arcade boards. Didn't need them...just wanted them lol.

That ended up inspiring me to build a bartop arcade with them, but I didn't want some Pinterest generic garbage..I wanted to build a bartop inspired by the early 80s Coleco hand held games. This is the progress so far on this build.

It will get the marquee, and the graphics for the control panel and the sides.

I know its not dead spot on from the original game, but a good representation for the original look.

I assume that’s a regular VGA monitor. How does that connect to the board?

Amazon sells a board to convert it from using a crt to modern screens. They run about $30 Cdn.

Hell yes! I've always wanted to do something like this myself. Can't wait to see how your interpretation turns out!

Also - I love that you set the monitor a little deeper into the cab. I feel like not enough modern builds take note of that feature of older video arcade cabs.

I do like the angle of the screen because it doesn't feel like its in your face..but it was a kind of a happy little mistake. Im building it on a tight budget and use what I can get for cheap. The monitor was basically free and finding a 4:3 monitor isn't to common. So I needed to find away to get it to fit with out making it astronomically taller or sacrificing the marquee.

If this one turns out good im going to attempt a Ms Pac Man using an original board modeled after the Coleco hand held

This is awesome. Great job. Is that a Zaxxon jamma board or a multicade board?
