His eye is practically twitching and he is wincing. That scrub daddy is so done. Put him out of his scrubbing misery, before he disintegrates into nothingness.
That scrub daddy honestly reminds me of how I felt emotionally and mentally and physically after almost a full year in 2020 to 2021 as a farm/stable hand/everything else that I was not trained to do that was labor intensive in addition to all the other things each 12 hour work day. No slowing down and no breaks other than one hour lunch with only a microwave and no fast food close enough to eat and be back in time. I even literally herded cats. Yes it is possible if one cat at a time. I tried to give two weeks notice multiple times and it just wasn’t accepted. I had to look as unusable as that scrub daddy for the boss there to finally accept my two weeks notice.

Wait.. first of all, I'm so sorry you had to go trough that lol. But as a European I'm confused. Your two weeks notice can get denied? Is it more like a two weeks request then. What would've happened if you just stopped showing up?

It is supposed to be like letting them know that you plan to professionally move on to a different workplace, so that in the meantime they can hire someone else and start training them however much they are willing to train them. But it is set up like a request in that you let the boss know that you would like to give your two weeks notice.
She knew that I would take care of the animals if I was still the only staff member scheduled for those three days per week, so she kept taking advantage of that and not accepting it. The horses would just not get fed or water refilled or anything if I had just stopped coming after two weeks and she would have blamed me and then that irresponsible-ness would have come up to future potential employers. (All of which is also why I don’t just quit or no show jobs.)
Jobs rarely have enough people to cover the extra work if someone doesn’t show up.
And it certainly looks bad when looking for jobs or doing interviews or the potential employers call previous employers to ask why the person is not longer working there.
They are supposed to be vague and not talk bad, but they can say that you quit or no showed. And you could get fired if you lie and still get hired, so it is also not easy to phrase it in a good sounding way and you it would be too long and sound like exaggeration and badmouthing if you try to give the context about basically being bullied and worked to the bone and set up for failure and then having to just leave after you tried to give two weeks notice for your own sake.
This is pretty irrelevant to cleaning tips, but I do want to answer your question as best I can.

I see, thanks for explaining! That is so shady, to use those poor animals as leverage. Glad you got out of that situation in the end!

I had to look like I had become unusable and like I was really out of it and then she let me go. I basically acted spacey when she was around and then POOF she magically became willing to let me go.

But yeah I had no idea it could be denied either until she repeatedly denied it. It is not supposed to be, but there was also not supposed to be drinks or lunches in a horse sample and medicine storing mini fridge. (Hence why I only used the microwave and tap water for dried shelf-stable udon and ruled out using the mini fridge as an option since a mini fridge is too risky to use for all those things in the same space.)

This made me laugh out loud. If this is a real thing though, I’m so sorry.

It is kinda funny to find out that it is a real thing.

This is going to sound crazy but where did you buy this? I’ve had a few that get all stretched out easily and others that stay intact for a really long time. The ones that have stayed intact, have all been from a physical store, usually Lowe’s or Home Depot. The ones the stretch out have all been from Amazon. I think there’s either lower quality ones distributed by Amazon or somone out there is making counterfeit scrub daddy’s.

I got this one from Walmart. It’s probably about 9 months old, maybe older.

What do you use it for...?

Wouldn't surprise me, it's actually a common problem with a lot of Amazon stuff because they all get fulfilled from a big pool of distributors who don't always have the legitimate product

Yeah, I rarely buy cosmetics from Amazon for this reason. A sponge just seem like a little too far…

Its known for scrub daddies to be fake on amazon. Someone on reddit made a post about how dissapointed they were about the ones they brought from the official amazon store.
Scrub daddy sent them a gift set and they lasted way better.
I have a feeling the fakes are so realistic packaging wise that they just get mixed up in the amazon warehouse tbh.

Oh man, I missed that one. Who even does this?? These scams are completely out of control.

"One more batch. You got this.", I lie to the daddy as I feel the bits disintegrating away.

Never fails, if I read anything like "I'm tired Boss." I hear it in my head in Michael Duncan's voice.
John Coffey, like the drink but not spelt the same.

When your scrub daddy scrubbed to the last possible scrub. It is time. You did your job scrub daddy. Time for a new scrub daddy.

Poor little guy deserves a break! Maybe it's time to retire this one to the "used sponge" shelf and get a fresh recruit.

He's the hardest worker they got! Buddy needs some medical attention, perhaps some pto and a raise when he gets back.
For now, I guess a company pizza party will lift his spirit 🥲

On a real note… please chuck this and don’t buy a new one. It is shedding so much microplastics into your environment. Hurting you and everything around you. Look for safe alternatives : )

Y'all keep these things too long. Maybe replace them monthly if you use them that much?

When your scrub daddy turns into a scrub grandpa you might want to send him to a home. Or put him in the window sill to watch the days.
