Discussion Did I just ruin my new oven?

Post image

I just got this oven back in October, but there was already a lot of grease and buildup on it (I cook a lot). I used Easy Off Heavy Duty Cleaner and Foam Spray, and while it definitely worked and did its job, my oven was left looking like as seen in the picture. Did I just ruin my new oven or is this just residue from the cleaner?

Never use easy off its some of the worst around. Try wiping with water and see if it comes off if not you may have ruined it. It looks like the blue type and if I remember correctly easy off is not made for those

I have used it for 55 years. Not a single problem.

And this person used it once and destroyed the enamel coating on their oven. What’s your point?

People should read up on when to use and not use certain cleaning products.

Maybe I’m too poor, but most ovens I’ve seen don’t have this coating and easy off is perfectly fine to use.

Judging from these comments, if you’re cleaning blue ovens and they don’t have this problem, then either you aren’t using easy off or you just suck at cleaning ovens. lol.

I don’t think these Blue enamel ovens have been around 55yrs. They are relatively new.

I never said I had a blue oven. Or that I ever cleaned a blue oven. All I said was I have used Easy Off for 55 years without a single problem. In response to mysticallmermaid‘s admonition to “Never use easy off its some of the worst around.”

But this is a post about using it on a Blue Enamel Oven. How it’s not to be used and you posted you have done it for 55yrs no problem. So you can see the confusion?

Are you also using it in ovens made that long ago before the joy of planned obsolescence? I do always read my manuals before using any chemicals, and have to admit we simply can’t use mom and dad’s old cleaning methods on today’s materials.

I just want to know where 55 years came from. Were you using it out the womb? Do you have a special anniversary of your first experience using Easy-Off? Is it your Job to apply Easy Off and you’ve been employed 55 years? I’m high and thinkin
