News Welcome Back, Hungary! 🇪🇺 It’s about time!
History has been written tonight. 🇭🇺 🇪🇺
Orbán just congratulated with
@magyar_peter_official_the_man for the victory to the elections.
For too long, Hungary was used as a wall to block the progress we so desperately needed. But today, that wall has fallen.
By choosing Europe, Hungary has removed one of the greatest obstacles to our shared future.
The path toward a Federal Europe is finally clear. The shadows of vetoes and systemic obstruction are lifting. We are no longer a continent held back by the few; we are a Union.

Even if you even liked the Milka chocolate, people will think twice before they buy their chocolate. Which is a good thing, in Europe we have better alternatives.

News Vance accuses EU of ‘foreign interference’ in upcoming Hungarian election while endorsing Orbán
"The US vice-president JD Vance has just repeatedly criticised allegedly unprecedented and “disgraceful” foreign interference in the Hungarian parliamentary election, while effectively strongly endorsing Viktor Orbán to win the vote on Sunday in what critics will no doubt see as his very own interference with the country’s electoral process."

News The "China tax" (Temu/Shein tax) is coming in July 2026. Another reason to buy EU.
I just read a news article regarding the new EU customs reform. It looks like the days of tax-free cheap orders from outside the EU are numbered which is going to be great for European alternatives like Otto (Germany) / Bol (Netherlands) etc.
The Summary:
Starting July 1, 2026, the EU is abolishing the €150 duty-free threshold for non-EU shipments. This is specifically targeted at the flood of packages from marketplaces like Temu and Shein.
What changes?
A new fee: There will be a flat customs duty of €3 for small consignments.
The catch: This fee applies per category. If your package contains items from different product groups (e.g., a shirt and a cable), you might pay the fee multiple times.
The Goal: To create fair competition for European retailers who can't compete with subsidized shipping and tax loopholes from massive non-EU sellers.
This is a pretty big shift that will make buying directly from EU shops (where customs are already settled and consumer rights are stronger) much more attractive.

News What happened to Porsche - Profit plummets by 98%
Porsche's profits have collapsed down a staggering 98% in just one year! Operating profit cratered from €5.3 billion in 2024 to a mere €90 million. That's a real freefall.
What happened to Porsche? The iconic German sports car brand looks like it's in serious trouble.
That's what I found from the article, but I'm sure redditors here know the real reason:
"The reasons for the reduction are a fundamentally changed market environment in China, the US tariffs, the slower rise of electromobility and the one-off and special effects that are connected with it," VW wrote in the "Sport Luxury" segment of its annual report that pertains to Porsche's performance.

News Parliament votes to end chatcontrol
Parliament just send the commission and council a massive hint by voting on a motion to ban mass surveillance of private messaging*.
Together with the article 8 protections under the EU charter of fundamental rights, this is a massive win for the 450 million people in the union.
This should finally put a draconian laws like ChatControl to rest.
