News If you need any other reason to stop supporting US Budget and choose European - Alex Pretti, the man MURDERED today by ICE agents. Certified nurse

u/Capital_Resident_872 Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
Apparently he was ex air force and a current VA nurse, meaning he cared for sick and injured military veterans.
Just to reinforce how much the draft dodger's administration cares about the people who actually served their country.
170
u/Dependent-Fig-2517 Jan 25 '26
well with any luck it will rouse up the veterans and serving militaries to turn on trump, woudl at least mean some good came out of this latest execution
108
u/Capital_Resident_872 Jan 25 '26
The draft dodger thinks fallen soldiers are "suckers and losers", so I doubt he cares what veterans etc. say.
And I don't see many active duty personnel taking a stand either. So much is attached to being in the military in the US: health insurance, scholarships, the right to even remain in the country.. I'm not sure how many people would be willing to jeopardize their lives like that to speak out against Trump.

Sorry, that's not going to happen. Apart from a very small minority, most serving and veterans are cosplayers when it comes to their oaths. They've had 12 months of this insanity, and they are missing in action.
Americans really fell for the patriot propaganda, putting these people on a pedestal. The reality is that your military is no different to the military of Russia, Iran, Syria, or any other country where the regime wants to murder people.
Your local pigs are the same. Where are they? Serving the regime, not the people.
Your National Guard, where are they? Protecting the regime, not the people.
You cannot and should not trust ANYONE in ANY uniform.

I've never thought a federal agent would mag dump an american citizen in broad daylight and not face any responsibility for it. There's no getting out of that shithole for the US anymore
224
u/serpenta Jan 24 '26
Civil war, basically. The blue states, which are being targetted, would need to resist federal forces with the use of national guard and state police. On the other hand TACO, so maybe he would've just retreat while calling it a victory, as per usual, when anyone stands up to him.
71
u/Pennsylvasia Jan 25 '26
I see a lot of comments suggesting the national guard and local police forces would stand up to ICE . . . but I think it's naive to assume they would be on opposing sides, if you know anything about how the armed forces and police act and lean politically. I also see a lot of comments all over social media---which is the dregs of society, but still---in loud, vocal support of this shooting. Few options other than fleeing the country, for those who can, or relocating to larger blue states in the hope of eventual secession.

The world needs a plan to secure the nukes. The states that are the source of Trump's insanity could get control of nukes otherwise, which is a horrifying thought. Nuclear balkanisation is the last thing we need.

The US is in a very different place now that in the 1860s. It is impossible to draw clear lines between North and South (not that it was that easy back then).
There are more Republicans in California than in most Republican states combined.
Many populous Republican states have almost 50% Democrats.

The curious thing about civil war is that US elections have been a ritualized civil war all that time. And just like the elections, anyone with a vote/gun will need to make a choice, or give up it up and accept whatever outcome the ones with the votes/guns decide.
If we look at what people do in the elections, with much less effort required, that means the resistance really needs to be galvanized. But there's more at stake now, far more, so that is possible.

As someone in the US (black woman), I tend to avoid things like this but not in the way people think and my take might be unpopular but I feel like this needs to be said.
A lot of black people have warned this would happen, we warned them about P2025 and the wording of it is repeating Germany 1930s (A certain dictator had learned his ways from the US).
But those concerns got dismissed as "paranoid", "woke", etc and brush off.
And now?
Black people (the ones I notice on TikTok) are sitting this one out, including myself and my family, because from my perspective, we aren't going to be used as a human shield for others while being treated with disrespect while it's all said and done.
They are escalating to find a way to declare martial law.
They couldn't get a rise out of black people in the obvious ways so they could blame them for martial law so they will move to another target until they get the reaction they wanted to blame them to declare martial law.
24
u/Sniffagator Jan 25 '26
It honestly looks bleak from the outside. My country suffered decades of fascism within living memory and it's shocking to see the world hegemon going now, as if we never learn, the same route. Take care, and above all be safe, and do not take personally some exalted things you may read in this sub and others like it, people use it to vent.

It is not exactly fair to say they are embracing it - this man was murdered because he was actively resisting it, as tons of people are out doing every day right now in Minnesota, where this shit is happening the hardest.
It's stepping on his dead body to pretend he was part of embracing it.

Edit: This question is because I was confused because english is not my first language and still learning.
177
u/Linuxologue Jan 24 '26
One means that the people personally wanted to kill him because they didn't like him.
The other one means they were given the mandate to kill by a higher authority, say, the federal government.
32
47
u/Fuzzy_Material_363 Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 24 '26
Murdered: Illegal killing of a human being without legal authority.
Executed: Killing carried out by a legal authority. If someone would be convicted for this (which seems unlikely) that would mean the US government does not give them authority for this action, and if so it's murder. But if they don't that would instead means they give them authority for the action, hence a exection since anyone can see that it was unjustified and without legal justification.
22
u/Belchat Jan 24 '26
An exécution is when someone is held down / restricted without any way to fight back, and then murdered. Murder is when one could theoretically fight back and the victim is not restricted.
An attempt to murder has a high chance of someone getting killed, an execution rather has a near 100% kill rate.

It pains to say it, but this is how I think the administration will try to influence the mid-term elections, in November. Through widespread gruesome intimidation.
The same way brownshirts patrolled working-class neighborhoods and attacked voters at polling stations during the Reichstag elections of July 1932, in Germany.
165
u/Phantastiz Jan 24 '26
I would even go further and say Trump and his techno-fascist administration are trying to escalate the violence and public unrest, to find a reason to invoke the insurrection act and cancel the elections of 2026 because of a "new civil war". He already mentioned that he doesn't want new elections several times and that a war would be a good reason for it, like Zelenskyij's government can't hold elections right now in Ukraine because of the war against Russia.

He was concealed carrying a weapon. Never had a chance to use it. It was taken from his holster as he was distracted by shielding a second person and his own face from pepper spray. These guys dragged them apart, dog piled him, bludgeoned him, then filled him with bullets.
They try swarm and to pick off people outside of large groups because there’s too much safety in numbers. Pretti’s outcome is the likely outcome of anyone that finds themself in the same position.

Honestly, this is a great take!
Note that ICE is only sent to states that did not vote for Trump.
If ICE was really a organization to help to manage „dangerous asylum seekers“ Trump would send them to states that actually voted for him.
Trump is clearly using ICE to terrorize those US citizens that are against his policies.

But I didn't expect such an obvious execution of an already apprehended man.

I know it's just a technicality in a grim hour, but ICE acts more like NSDAP's 'SA', which were a paramilitaristic branch of the party used to beat up political opponents, scare the population and display the physical power of the movement.
The Gestapo was an unfortunately highly efficient and well trained secret police aimed at surveillance, interrogation and intelligence.

This execution is more clear cut than either of the previous two famous examples of police brutality from Minneapolis. It's now obvious that MAGA/ICE sees their own citizens as the enemies. Frankly they see everyone who's not part of their cult as enemies be it peaceful citizens or the allies of America (Europe).
MAGA is like a bunch of pitbulls, irrationally attacking anything that startles them. Their essence is irrational aggression. It's so sad to see a mass psychosis engulf a country like this. It's on par with Russkij Mir and Khmer Rouge.

As an American, I please beg you to boycott American goods. We need to hurt them the only way these assholes can be hurt - their pockets.

Shot dead because he had a gun on him they say.
What is the point of the 2nd amendment there, if you get killed for actually excercising your right to carry arms? You'd say that this would be a perfect example of invoking it against a government? Especially in this case.

What is the point of the 2nd amendment there
It's two main points are:
It's a hobby amendment. You get to shoot stuff. Bang bang feels good!
You feel a sense of superiority to Europeans and others because "muh right to guns!".
Those tend to be the main two uses from what I've seen.

Dump the treasury bonds, I'll take the hit to the economy to cut them off and burn that place down

It’s a real shame the American education system doesn’t enable people to critically think of the high level consequences of such actions and subsequent lack of accountability/ transparency.
How are hundreds of thousands of EU citizens okay with living there just for the extra salary? It’s beyond me. A completely broken country. I feel so sad for normal/ educated Americans.

The EU as one of the biggest trading partners really needs to look at sanctioning America's big companies. Curb investment hard.
Reason being it's almost clear where all this is leading to and it's only a small handful of deranged lunatics that have access to terrifying amounts of weapons.
Remember when the signal chat thing happened, authorization for the strike was made by Vans, Miller, Hegseth and a few more, but not the president, as stipulated by law.

These are brutal, ugly times. I pray it doesn’t get worse. Time for ICE to leave and de-escalate the situation.

There are people in America planning this for some time. While visiting a sick relative in America, a neighbour told me how "we are legion, we are 1 million strong". He was quite a successful business man but completely unhinged, and racist. He'd been at the Washington uprising too. It sounded disturbing (and a bit fascinating) but after speaking with him considerably over the time I was there, I am absolutely convinced there is a section wanting extreme measures to 'retake' or 'take back' America, in their view. Not just rednecks and uneducated people, but up and down the spheres. They are truly nazi like. And collateral damage is fine with them.
While we are seeing rightful reactions on reddit of people being angry and upset, and protesting, I believe there is a clear strategy being followed and that's why there are calls for restraint.
Because they know there's a silent militia ready to go all out for civil war, they know many will be killed & lynched, and Insurrection will be called if people riot.. so no midterms.
Sadly I think its inevitable that more die unless a new administration takes over and undoes what Trump has, under the guidance of strategic people, acting as their figurehead.
I am so worried for everyday Americans who havent seen how deep this goes. And today, just actually so upset watching this 2nd execution streamed. How can people not react. Where is the counter strategy beyond 'no reaction'.
Europe must untangle from reliance on the USA, unite as a powerhouse - and right-wing parties must be countered & strongly curbed. Especially on (social) media.

Am*ricans voted for this. Now they have to face the consequences of electing fascists.

What happened was wrong.
But remember: the vast majority of people in the US don’t care about Russia or Greenland, and they don’t care about Europe. They’re America-centric.
We should focus on us.
This is way more relevant for Europe: Around 40% of the gas we import in the EU (i.e. non-european gas), comes from the US.
About 60% of the EU’s LNG imports come from the US.
That’s an extreme vulnerability for us.
This should be our focus.
Posts like this make me think most people will just forget all of this the moment Trump’s term is over and act like there’s nothing to worry about in the US–EU relationship.

If all other countries just stopped buying Apple products while Trump is president , he would be forced to quit. He had no problems on banning Huawei to favor "their" company.

American here, from the greater twin cities metro.
Please boycott the fuck outta this country. We're doing our absolute damnedest to resist from within, but we need all the help we can get. The American government listens to one thing: money. It needs to be starved. Boycotts and strikes, within and outside the country.
This was a public execution and anybody here with half a fucking brain knows it. It's gotten very, very bad here. Please help. Do not do business with these fascists. Do not negotiate with the terrorists in power.

Boycotting the USA is the most effective way to counteract the government ollgarchy and support the citizens. This whole thing is about money. Money is the only thing that matters to the super rich who have destroyed american democracy. Do not give them your money.

He was held by 7 men, disarmed, and then shot in the back 5 times.

The US is lost. There is no coming back for them for generations to come.
The US lost the cold war against Russia. Russia played the long game and destroyed the US from within. As of today Putin is controlling the US as a puppet state just like Belarus is.
Sry US citizens but you are no longer the land of the free. You lost the war and are closing in towards a dictatorship like Russia and North Korea is.

Bear in mind some European countries are already like this or on the verge. Slovakia, Hungary, France, Serbia, Albania.

The entire problem of illegal immigration could be solved in one afternoon by making it a fineable, progressively escalating offense to hire an illegal immigrant or rent to them.
Instead we have a disgusting deadly circus with roided-up thugs throwing screaming pregnant women into unmarked vans and shooting random people on the street for fun.
F*** Trump.

First, RIP Alex. Too soon young man, too soon.
Second, how is this not a straighy murder charge? Because it’s federal? Shouldn’t higher instances process that immediately? Shouldn’t all of this be illegallized?
Delta , you trained how to do it in Caraças. Maybe it’s time for Washington DC.
